Dollywood Express 70: The Last Breath of Winter

On March 12, 2022, Dollywood was forced to cancel the first day of their 2022 season due to a surprise out of season snowfall. The park finally opened the following day as the snow began to melt away, and former White Pass & Yukon 70 was at the head of the first trains up the mountain.

Excellent video! Dollywood’s an old favorite of mine. I’ve been going there every year since 2009. 70 is my personal favorite of the two locomotives at the park. I actually have some facts about the old G class consolidation displayed outside of the park. Old 107 was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in November of 1887 for the East Tennessee, Virginia, and Georgia railroad. She was one used for a promotion for the Rebel Railroad along with former Genesee & Wyoming 206. G&W 206 is now in Chattanooga, TN at the Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel. 107 is of the same class of locomotive as Southern Railway 154.
