I definitely want to learn this technique, and try to apply it into what I'm currently playing. It seems simple but very effective and something that can help to as you mentioned in the video give more freedom on the fretboard. I've never played any of the licks that you went over in your video. I'd kind of figured there was some sort of method or easier way to understanding the guitar. I've been clueless for a very long time with regard to learning and playing. But I'm hoping to add some of these runs into my guitar playing to start actually playing some real solos. Thank you.

@@Dolphinstreets I understand the pattern however it changes as you progress up the neck. Perhaps in the future you would explain why this goes from a four fret then to a three fret pattern Thanks a ton well done....
@Darkwell00715 жыл бұрын
First time I have seen anyone go up and down the neck. This seem really important to learn thank you for showing us. I will dig snd learn. I know you mentioned jumping off and going across and if you could go up then across, back across, then up, then across ,then up in a scale that would really open the fret board. I think I am trying to get the idea by learning BB King the thrill is gone in different keys. So far A and Bm next is E. Thank you. You are a great teacher.

As you said, very important to know at least. the 2 techniques horizontal (more lyrical, fluidity) and vertical (boxes = technical). For me, I prefer the horizontal way which opens up other directions. Again thank you Robert for this great video, you are an excellent teacher.

Good job, Robert. Would be interested in the fret distances too. I noticed the start is 2 frets then it goes to 3 frets apart but does it remain that way all the way up? And ya gotta love a D'Angelico!

If you look at me playing it, you'll see the pattern. It repeats again once you reach the octave.

All your lesson are spot on man really like your stuff! So I have a question about some videos where you (and others) use a linear outline of the chord progression as it goes by while your playing. That really helps to see where you are in the progression. My question is... what is that program? I'd like to use that in my stuff as well. Sorry to post this question here...
@Dolphinstreets5 жыл бұрын
There isn't one program I use. I use a combination of Photoshop and After Effects by Adobe. Tedious work for sure.

Maybe it was by design, but you failed to mention the pattern for the slides. Whether up or down, it was 4 frets or 3 frets. It looked like it was alternating but I'm not 100% sure. I saw your comment from a few months back where you suggest that we look at your playing and we'll see it. So, I suspect you were intentionally leaving it out of the video for us to figure out. The slides are a great way of connecting the boxes. It's a great way to break up the staccato sound of playing the notes.
