Aha, very good, yes, Monta Rosa (Dufourspitze) is the highest point in Switzerland, however, half of the mountain is across the border in Italy. The Dom is the highest mountain *entirely* within Switzerland :o)

Hi, you're correct in that Monte Rosa is the highest point in Switzerland, however, half of the mountain is in Italy. The Dom is the highest mountain entirely in Switzerland i.e. the whole mountain is inside the Swiss border. Thanks for watching and your comment :o)

You can hire a guide from the guides bureau in the middle of Zermatt, their website is here: www.zermatt.ch/en/Media/Planning-hikes-tours/Dom-Ascent If you hire a guide, they will take care of the hut bookings, otherwise, you'll need to book a bunk yourself, the pricing for the Dom Hutte (bunk, dinner, breakfast) is here: www.domhuette.ch/huette/preise/ Hope that helps, Rich.

A guide in switzerland costs from 300chf to 900chf.. usually 650chf.. dunno if u need a refuge for dom.. meal in the mountains usually costs 20 to 70chf (depends if u will ask french fries or full course meal).. Equipment if you dont have anything be prepared to expend 600chf for a welcome package, but if you are a climber you usually will need to add ice picks that will cost from 50chf to 150chf each and crampons (100-250chf). Or if you rent 1/3 of the value so 200chf. So... It depends how many people are sharing the guide bill, what u will eat and your equipment. Can cost 50chf if u have everything and a group or 1600chf if you are coming alone and with the wallet open. PS: add train ticket, SBB is expensive ASF.. If you are in a group rent a car. Even with half fare a ticket Zurich->Saas-Fee costs 45chf one way.

Hey! Great video, really helpful. Would you say that steep section is the only section where protection is required?

Hi, thanks for watching. In the conditions we encountered that short icy steep section was the only time we used protection - the rest of the ridge was fairly straightforward. The only other section where we saw other parties using protection was the mixed rocky face between the glacier and the Festigrat, we just scrambled that section (up & down), but some parties did abseil on descent.
