This is an awesome high security lock from my good friend Tallan Pick. He even sent me a pick tip so I can pick it! I filmed this before I started my Side Noob side channel, so gutting only and no reassembly on this one!

Alright mate, see how you said "these don't bind in order"? I'm just getting into the idea of going to try my first disk detainer lock (purely because I lost the key for one of my bike locks and was raging that I couldn't pick it with the tools I had so had to ashamedly cut through the lock with a set of bolt cutters) so I now have my first disk detainer padlock and my question is, is it usual that after you tension it it's just a case of doing disk 1, then 2 then 3 etc until you get an open? I know this lock you just picked wasn't like that, but like you said "this is an unusual lock". Cheers mate🙂👍

@@randommadness1021 they can bind in any order
@randommadness10213 жыл бұрын
@@LockNoob righto, cheers mate. And see the ones you need to tension from the back, do you need to buy one of those tools that only do binding from the back? That's what's put me off disk detainers in the past, but now that I have a lock that I had to cut through I'm willing to invest in one so at least cutting through my bike chain won't go to complete waste. Cheers again 🙂👍

This lock is easily one of the smoothest operating locks i have, but i feel it lacks pick resistance, the gates are rather obvious and with a dedicated pick it only takes a minute. Awesome pick and video!

Super video, I love the pick and then the gutting it really helps new pickers visualise how the lock works.

What a very nicely designed lock that was picked extremely well. It was worth every second to watch you pick and fit this Dom lock.

I never thought I'd see a dd lock with spacers that are SO much cooler than the discs themselves 😲 beautiful engineering

Same here, my friend. I love those thick wire tensioners. I just wish you didn't have to buy crappy Chinese pick sets to get one - I've never seen them sold separately, but surely they must be available somewhere. The only thing that confused me us why you weren't using a normal DDP. No way to tension that way, or something?

Awesome pick brother! Disc detainers are my weakest picking skill. Not from lack of trying though. I admire your skills though! Those disks looked really mean. False gate galore!

This is a great video that encouraged me give my own DOM Diamant (acquired at LockCon) a try. I wonder if all the additional cuts in the disks are false gates or if it is rather some kind of mastering. To my understanding, disk #5, #7, #8, #10 and #11 have two sets of true gates each (2 x 3 true gates for 3 sidebars). Would you agree? (The disks in my cylinder have only 3 true gates and some false gates like those you show near the end of the video.)
@LockNoob24 күн бұрын
The true gates in the DOM are surprisingly wide/deep so once you have a good picking tip, it’s not as bad as you might think
@RWBHere3 жыл бұрын
Nice picking, Ash! Thanks. Have you considered making a key for the lock, now that you have seen the disks?

Very nice pick! I just got that same pin vice last week. Was going to use it for fine tuning homemade pins but clearly has even more good uses. Is that pick tip an ejector pin in its former life?
@cmarano3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Ejector pin. Tallan Pick has lots of good vids where he shows what you can do with a file and some skill.

They have outdone Protec and Protec2 cores ! 😯 They simply pale compared to that machining , but I guess , Protecs are way harder for picking from comments below.

Rear tension , then picking those 1 - 3 dimple parts that are part of DBS (Disc Blocking System) , but , I've seen a man marketing his tool for Sentry , he somehow started picking from disc No2 from back.

A great pick, and a very beautiful old lock. But I'm afraid, a burglar wouldn't value this, and rather destroy it with a drilled-in screw and a plunger.

Expensive lock, there's one for €159 from Ukraine on fleabay. Can't afford it but can at least see what the weird key looks like.
