Honestly, 2019 Kawhi is the weirdest FMVP ever. Like? Had the quietest near 30 ppg finals ever. I mean, VanFleet played his mind out. Danny Green played some minutes where he hit daggers. Siakim dominated the paint at time. There just wasn't a point to me where it felt like Kawhi was dominating. At the end of each game I'd see 33 points or something, and just think to myself "What? How? When?". I'd almost never remember him scoring, but he'd somehow have points. Granted, that has some to do with his play style, but I can only remember a few instances of him going off.

No, just no. The Cavs were a bad defensive team that year that had nobody that could match up with him well, especially since it was absolutely impossible to double team him thanks to playing with Steph & Klay. The only player on the Cavs who could have a chance at reasonably guarding KD would have been LeBron, but that is unfeasible because he was the only facilitator on offense. You can't run your main offensive player into the ground on defense.

I think LeBron would have put up better numbers than MJ had he gotten to play in that era that MJ did. Lesser athletes and the rules were more physical. Zone defense was illegal, and hand checking was legal. It's absolutely laughable the people who say a physical freak like LeBron would be worse in that era. He would be a defensive god if he was allowed to hand check people. His one issue on defense is that his size can make it harder for him because his strides are always longer than smaller players, but that's negated if he can put his hands on guys with his raw strength.

People who question why iggy won fmvp never look at the big picture. Lebron would probably average an easy 30 if iggy was never guarding him. Iggy basically made lebron work extra on offense and it showed with his fg%

@@toptier6132 The game is about the whole team. The 2016 Warriors were an insanely deep team. Love did not play well enough to warrant being in that discussion, and both he & Kyrie were certainly negatives on defense on top of it. The whole team matters, and outside of those players in 2011, Dallas was far superior.

Lebron's chase down block on Iggy is probably the best block in NBA history, not only was it super bad ass, fast paced, powerful, and out of no where, it was so clutch and came at a do or die moment in the playoffs. Crazy good.

I can see your reasoning. But Kawhi 2019 that low??? Literally that series Kawhi came alive whenever raps had nothing going. That crazy 2 min period in game 5 where he almost single handedly won the series. That GSW team without KD did not lose a game to Houston and Portland. And were expected to beat the raps in 6. I feel like theres a lot bias against Kawhi here

Dom, your logic on KD doesn't really make any sense. There have been plenty of dominant performances in the Finals with uneven teams. I'm sure if you took off Worthy and put in KD on those Lakers teams, his numbers would've been astronomical. However, we look at KDs FMVP and Worthy's like night and day. It doesn't make any sense, we only punish players for having good teammates when they joined them in FA. Not when they are drafted

Love the series. Other awards could be cool mainly roty and 6th man, coach is probably not gonna be that interesting. But the thing I would like to see video on is top 10 most important/impactful trades of the 2010s. Free agency decisions might be pretty good but it might be predictable. Also I think as heartbreaking as that list would be - the most career altering/impactful injuries of the 2010s.

Kawhi's finals performance would definitely have been higher if they'd closed it in 5 games like they should have an Kawhi finished the Warriors off like he almost did. However, that didn't happen, and KD went nuclear in 2017 and put up 50-40-90 in 2018, so I'm fine with it. Kawhi's performance against the Sixers, though... Now _that_ was something special. Game 7 buzzer beater, 35 ppg, 45 points on nearly 70% from the field in game 1. What a sight to behold (he averaged about 10 boards a game as well, if I remember correctly).
@milkboy22285 жыл бұрын
They were almost in the same situation. Going against a team they had no business losing against and as the best player they had to close out. KD did his job better than Kawhi.

Chaitu. Petluri You guys overhype him in the finals. No doubt he played great but stop, had the Warriors been healthy it wouldn’t of been close. Injuries are part of the game, yes but he got very lucky KD, Klay, Steph, Looney, and Iggy were all injured heavily or had a minor injury. The Warriors had no chance to win the series once Klay went down for basically 2 games and KD played like 11 minutes. Like i said Kawhi played great and i’m not discrediting that, but it was so easy for him to win that finals and put up great stats when half of the other team was injured the whole series.
@pabloescobar40945 жыл бұрын
Jay Money what’s so good is he took a team notorious for choking with a 32 year old Kyle Lowry as his only all star teammate through a loaded east and won them a chip. And before you make the “injury” remark to discredit his performance, keep in mind the 2019 warriors without KD were more or less to the 73-9 warriors that Lebron beat back in 2016 in terms of skill and talent. Put up 35 10 and 4 on 53% shooting against the sixers 30 10 and 4 against the bucks and 29 10 and 4 against the warriors. He literally had the third most points in a playoffs behind only Jordan and Lebron and you asking “what did he do?” You’re a hater.
