As a heat fan, I don't know why Pat Riley is messing this up the way that he is. Jimmy came in as a free agent when nobody wanted to sign with us during the whole "league of duos" trend was going on. He took us to 2 finals series when we were nothing but dark horse candidates/ "dangerous loomers" in the playoffs and now Pat punishing him for requesting a trade when anyone with a pair of eyes and common sense can see that NO help is coming to change this team into at least a LEGIT contender is absolutely infuriating as a Heat fan. Even from a business/front office standpoint, why not trade him? Try to get something back for him instead of letting him walk in the off-season for nothing at all. And you know he's not going to resign, not after this treatment. Hell, if the literal FACE OF THE HEAT FRANCHISE in Dwayne Wade didn't resign in 2016 after getting lowballed, what the hell do you think Jimmy is going to do? As a fan, I'm glad Jimmy came to the Heat. Gave me some memorable playoffs moments I'll probably never forget and whether he walks in the off-season or is traded I just want to say Thank You.
@BOnYTB
@BOnYTB Ай бұрын
I think they’d be happy to trade him if they could get any value for him. They should’ve more seriously explored trades this offseason though, bc making a trade in season for a guy making almost 50M is very hard. The whole apron thing makes it way harder than it used to be. The only trades that make even a tiny bit of sense involve stacking up a bunch of players contracts to trade for Jimmy, or one bad contract like a Beal. I think the best offer they’ll get would be like Beal and a 2031 1st round pick or something, and that’s if Beal would waive his NTC which I’m unsure if he would. Beal and Herro isn’t a good fit, and they’d be taking on some bad money all for one (albeit valuable) pick. They really made the biggest mistake when they traded for Terry Rozier. That made it to where they no longer have the assets for a star or near star trade package. Terry never made sense on this team either. I think they’re kinda stuck. Unless someone comes out of the woodwork, idk what they can even do. Also, Jimmy would be in an awkward spot if they don’t trade him. Regardless I don’t think any team is going to want to give him the max for 2 more years. Him opting out is tough bc nobody that makes sense will have the FA $ to sign him. The only way I truly see him getting an extension is if he opted out of the 52.4M, and took a lot less in 25-26. Something like 38.1M (so 14.3M less) then took 5% raises off that. That’d be 3y/120M.

I don't disagree with what you said. I think Pat Riley was thinking of trading Jimmy Butler as well. But i think the optics and the antics of Jimmy is very bad publicly. JImmy also didn't need to say it to the press or kinda put little effort on the court and be a distraction to his team. He coulda just played optimal and he woulda been traded. No need to say im not happy here and etc and etc.

People defending Pat Riley’s lack of moves during the Jimmy Butler era are so ignorant. Just like players eventually become washed, so do GMs and presidents. Pat has to face the backlash too because he’s so complacent with a roster that everyone and their mom knew wasn’t going to beat the upper echelon of teams. Jimmy needed help and he didn’t do shit. Tyler Herro has only scored over 20 points in the playoffs 3 times since 2020, which is terrible for a guy who’s biggest strength is his scoring.

@weswith360s this again falls on Pat, whose last successful draft pick was Herro in 2019. He hasnt drafted well or done smaller trades to keep attractive assets in half a decade, so no teams are going to want to trade big stars to the Heat who have no one and won't part with their best young asset
@konzza

@@cole4939mid-team hasn't got early picks. Maybe Heat could had traded Jimmy 2-3 years ago, when he still had some trade value to tank for early picks, so this wouldn't be an issue. Isn't part of the "Heat culture" about turning undrafted players and unvalued picks into usefull players?

So far the most fair analysis i have heard. Imo they actually overachieved last few years and at some point they will recieve the other end of the stick, even if they make more competitive team.

It's simple. They should have traded him when there was a real market for him. I get that you don't trade your best player after you've just made the finals. But not trading him in the offseason of 2024 was a huge mistake. This era of the Heat is over, it's time to rebuild around Herro. Not cashing in Butler might become really costly down the line, especially if Bam keeps playing like a bum offensively. That being said, Jimmy also handled the situation terribly. Be a fucking pro and go to work. Forcing your way out by playing like ass is not a good look. Certified diva behavior.

Running back this team would never result in a chip, and I say this as a Heat fan. It was so frustrating to see them flop several straight offseasons while everyone else in the East got better despite the clear-cut flaws. I do understand there's a cap, luxury tax, and contract constraints. However, historically, at least, Riley THRIVES when there are challenges to the cap and contract constraints or any unfavorable position to land other players.

Jimmy doesn't actually deserve to win if he told the Nuggets not to trade for him. Denver has the salary to match and a player the Heat would consider a great fit next to Bam (MPJ) and Jimmy would essentially return to his role on the 76ers where he's playing off a generational big man alongside Jamal Murray. if he insists on playing out the last leg of his prime on that superteam frankenstein abomination in Arizona, then he's not the winner he thinks he is.

You do what I say." It would be Pat Riley. Conduct unbecoming. Conduct detrimental. Its awesome. Jimmy is gonna cash zero cheques while he considers the consequences of being cute with the Heat. This is a good thing. Brooklyn couldnt stop KD or Kyrie. Lakers cant stop LeBron. Philly cant stop Joel and couldn't stop Harden. I swear do u people just lack nuance and 6 thinking? How was he the problem with the bulls wolves or 76ers? Or even Miami rn? Not saying he’s blameless but how was he a problem? The bulls didn’t see a future with him as a rebuild the 76ers didn’t pay him and we see how that worked out and Miami they never gave him anything it’s essentially the same team he came to plug in some different role players

@@TWJColeHe wanted to stay in Philly, but he hated Ben Simmons and Brett Brown. He wanted the coach fired and to build a new team around him. The front office, which was a train wreck under Colangelo and Brand, backed Brown. Jimmy stopped talking to them and had his foot out the door. They agreed to a sign and trade with Miami to at least get some value back, but Jimmy was already out the door. They gave Harris a max once free agency started.

i honestly dont like the narrative that jimmy single handedly took them to 2 finals. the first one? yes, that was mostly him. the second one? not so much. he had 1 rly good series that year and that was the first round. after that he played basically like regular season jimmy. the heat just absolutely shot the lights out for 2 rounds and especially vs boston. basically the most unlikely shooting performance in history compared to their expected averages. yes jimmy did a lot in his miami years but also he needed miami as much as they needed him, noone else wanted to sign him, especially for that money. and just in general i honestly rly like when organisations dont budge to stars so easily. this diva nonsense has to stop. youre not better than the rest of your team just because youre the star. somone like shaq is just cancer to team chemistry and im glad at least some gms are still telling players to shut up when they over step no matter the cost. its a matter of principle at that point.

Miami are straight CLOWNS for this. Shoulda just gave Jimmy an extension and none of this would happen. This is the most talented the heat has been since Bron was there and Herro is FINALLY healthy. This was Miami's best shot at the title and they BLEW IT Spo is the reason Mia was relevant in the regular season but PLAYOFF Jimmy is the reason why theyve been to 2 finals in 4 years

Can it be Riley is losing his touch? He's failed to put a championship roster on the floor for years. Frankly I don't remember any "Heat Culture" before Buckets arrived. It was he who dragged sub-par teams to deep playoff runs. Jimmy wants a ring and realizes he wont ever be able to get one staying in Miami.

Heat Culuture is not based on Loyalty , AT ALL , look at how pat riley did D.Wade , No matter what you have done for the organization Pat Riley will not take care of aging stars , but potential free agents and stars in the age range 29-32 to see this, the lakers Overpayed kobe his last 2 seasons, but he deserved it amd other stars see if they have success with the lakers they will be taken carenof later, you got to be crazy to go play for pat, the worst part about him not takig care of Wade , is Wade took paycuts for years of his prime and Pat didnt pay him back , you got to be crazy to go there in yourate 20s
