I bought a Dome last September and used it through the fall. I also bought the long cover to protect it from the Pacific North Wet climate we have. I went to use it in late winter (Feb) and discovered 2 big cracks in the stone. Also I could not get the oven to light again. A quick e-mail exchange with Gozney and they agreed to send me a replacement oven right away. Their Customer Service is fantastic so I hope they have corrected the problems with this new Dome. So far so good! My Roccbox performed flawlessly for 7 years. Cheers.

I had the exact same problem and used ISO (2300?) ceramic board to make new floor insulation. It worked a treat. The upper insulation dried out after my first long heat up.

Hi Matt, great clip as all your videos. All the informations in the web about wind/heating problems, (without using extra stuff from nu2u) and the cracking risk keep me away from buying a dome although it seems to be a good oven. My terrace is sometimes exposed to wind, so I `m afraid I will not get a satisfying temperature and a to long heating.

I wouldn’t worry about cracking now that the newer models have removable stones! As long as you keep it dry and regarding wind, just try to position it in a protected area

What would be amazing to watch is to continue the breakdown of the dome. You could call it the Gozney Dome breakdown. Once it is completely broken down to it's individual parts, order the parts required to totally repair the oven and video the re-build.
@HarplandProductions7 ай бұрын
Might be easier said then done, They are not built to be easy to take apart and all of the parts would have to be custom so not sure yet what i am going to do.

Good info, Matt. I keep my oven covered and when I use it I start out low and slow, warming it up to temperature slowly, just in case there is any moisture in the stone.

Just make sure you keep the metal cap on the chimney and try to keep it out of torrential downpours. If it does get wet, just turn it on low and let it run for a few hours. Do that a few times to dry it out good

What are some of the reasons a stone may crack? Any tips to prevent cracking? I currently have a Roccbox and it would be difficult to replace the stone. Thank you for your videos.
@HarplandProductions2 ай бұрын
Moisture is the number one cause, when the stone gets wet than any extreme heat or cold will cause it to crack so just keep it somewhere out of the rain and if you don’t use it for a long time, heated on low for a half hour it slowly warm it back up

I have the Dual fuel Dome that I have had for a year now. I like the biscotto stone better because I have in my Pizza Party oven Ardore. Can I just place the Biscotto (trim it down to fit) on top of the existing stone? I know i will loose a little bit of height but the biscotto really cooks the bottom better and holds the heat better. Where do I purchase the biscotto? Thanks.
@HarplandProductions2 ай бұрын
You could defiantly set them on top, not 100% sure if it will work quite as well but it should. Here is the link for the stones, I would reach out and let them know you are wanting to just cover the existing stones and not replace and they can probably cut ones a bit thiner for you. www.biscottostones.com/?srsltid=AfmBOooNKK32tp-nAnQdGYsyjgcVKs7WdZlJnFcxb6wWlp72HWlhDECC

Have question, is there a way to get to the igniter inside parts to replace ?
@HarplandProductions6 ай бұрын
I don't think Gozney sells or provides replacement parts for any of their ovens. and you would have to take the oven completely apart to be able to remove and replace the burner component of the ignitor, the ignitor switch part would be easier.
@ScottBarnett-s2w8 ай бұрын
The insulation can dry out, it's not a loss at all. Replace the lower rigid broken insulation with rigid ceramic board or thick high-heat insulation blanket (multiple layers will work fine), and put it all undercover for a month and let it completely dry out, with a few days in the sun in between. Then light it on it's lowest setting for a few hours. I have a firebox on an transportable offset smoker with insulation and if the insulation gets saturated at a catering gig, the water will literally steam right out of it with a decent fire in the firebox. But these ovens are no different to a boat or caravan, keep them undercover or water will work their way in and your asset will be ruined. A tarp or a boat cover is never sufficient, you need a roof over your bbqs and some sidewalls don't hurt either.

Great video! We live in Sugarland TX recently purchased the Dome. In your opinion, would the dome still be okay to use in winter without risking cracking the stone ? Gozney recommends starting the fire on the lowest setting for 30 min to cure the stone if it hasn’t been used for at least 30 days. Curious about your thoughts. Thanks !

My real concern is for people who live in cold countries like Canada. We experience temperatures like -30C does it mean that I would not be able to use my gozney dome during the winter months? Should I leave it in my garage and cook there in the winter ?
@HarplandProductions6 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for watching and reaching out! I know quite a few Canadians who own and use their Domes year round without any issues. Like everything, it's always going to be better and last longer if you cover it up properly and in the perfect world store it inside a garage or at least under a covered patio, etc when not in use but by no means does that mean you cannot use it year round. in the Winter i would just make sure you heat it up slowly on low heat for about an hour to let it gradually warm up and to evaporate any condensation inside the oven after that you will be good to go. I have also seen a lot of people use their ovens in the garage when it's snowing and or raining, you just need to make sure you have proper ventilation.

This is an easy fix. The insulation is called silica board, and it’s a common material to use under pizza oven floors. You can just go buy a sheet of it in the same thickness, cut it to fit and then put your stone back on top. Easy.

This company has sublime customer service. German and Austrian customers were contacted lately about a blue flame instead of intended yellow on new arc and arc xl models. Whoever had this issue was asked if they wanted this to be taken care of (since the flame did not alter the functionality of the oven) and they will replace all ovens within the next 2 months for free plus a free arc mantel (extention of the front shelf) for “all the trouble”. I was stunned how they handled this and hands down, just brilliant.

@HarplandProductions7 ай бұрын
The Ooni Karu 16 is a nice oven but even it is overpriced a bit but i agree it's nice to be able to remove the stone and you can defiantly make some great pizza with it, i just am not the biggest fan of the burner design and placement and the door design, i would have rather it had better insulation and a side burner to minimize the need for the door.
