Dome Plateau - Moab Offroad Trail for Stock Jeeps, Toyotas

We did the area near the caves and uranium mines on the Bronco Sport off Roadeo in April. This was our first time in Moab,Loved It! We did 4 more days of trails on our own, really want to go back to explore more.

Just ran 1 trails up to a 7 to 9 trail with a ZR2 on 35s. Beautiful place.

I just did Dome Plateau in late April, in my LX570 on 33’s with sliders. The entrance close to the river had some rocky challenges from the rain, but good fun. Beautiful scenery. The steep drop off right before Boca Arch was where I stopped. I don’t believe a stock vehicle can make it back up there, assuming it gets down in the first place. FunTreks just mentions a steep descent, but I don’t agree. It kind of sneaks up on you, so anyone going out there, be aware. Otherwise one of the better Moab area trails.

Very nice! Yea its really more intimidating that actually very hard. I bet you would have made it. The slick rock is super sticky on tires so getting back up would have been no problem. Thanks so much for your comment!

Oh thats awesome! I really dont think youll have any problems. Just take it slow and focus on the rampy sections of the obsticles. Come back and be sure to let us know how it went! 😀

Oh thats awesome! Youre gonna have a great time! Acrually im not sure i could send that. But we use trails offroad and its mapped out very well through there. That was the exact trail we used.

Why do you never air down your tires? Full pressure tires are bad for trails, it prevents your tires from actually gripping rocks, etc, and gives you way less traction overall...and makes the ride uncomfortable. Airing down your tires for offroad is like Lesson #1.

On larger tires its hard to tell how much air is in the tire. We isually air down between 18-15psi. Depending on the trail. We dont have beadlocks so any more than that and we run the risk of blowing a bead. Also load range D tires which were the k02s were really stiff. A friend just ran a trail with us on his 40s at 12psi and it looked like it had more than 25psi. This trail didnt really call for much airing down though. Mostly packed sand. What difference does air pressure do to the trail?

@@odfarmboy Less air pressure means a larger footprint for each tire. This helps spread the weight of the vehicle out more. Helps prevent ruts, etc. It also helps prevents tires from spinning on loose gravel/dirt which would otherwise further degrade the trail.
