The flute parts are played beautifully, I’ll just say that first, and my interest was definitely caught with the subtlety of the very first time they’re heard. But then the first solo motif came in, and I was so disappointed….it’s exactly the same opening I’ve played in several solos in my time. And nothing whatever stood out for me as the piece went on….not even the greatest flutist can make a solo piece interesting if the composition isn’t up to snuff.
