Domestic Lighting 💡 - Circuit Protection - MCB and RCD

In this short video we look at the requirements within a domestic consumer unit for a UK lighting circuit. The circuit needs the correct type of circuit breaker (MCB) either type B, C or D depending on the load characteristics to offer overload and short circuit protection. The circuit also requires addition protection in the form of an RCD rated at 30 mA or less that will also offer earth leakage protection. We look at the different devices that can offer this type of protection.

This is so interesting! Is it possible for you to make a video about a tariff light in that power box? I had an incident about it and now I feel like learning about the lights though lots of the new ones don't have it

Are you saying that you can use the RCBO & a Main switch without the RCCB as there would be no discrimination between devices.

No - I would rather use an RCBO than an RCCB 👍🏻

Yes I agree, but in the CU panel if you remove the RCCB you will then need to have an incoming main switch instead to isolate the panel ?
