It's useless arguing whether import or muscle is better. It all varies on how you build your ride. But if you were to compare stock to stock, the majority of American muscle cars are faster than import tuners in a straight line (that's what they're made for). However, most import tuners can inexpensively be made very fast. I like both sides.

Dollar for dollar muscle cars respond better to mods. Put $10,000 into a mustang and into a civic and you get more return on your dollar.

@@joemama1151 of course, that mustang car has almost 4 times the engine. A 1.6 vs 5.0 of course t will respond better. That stock 1.6 is making more hp per cubic inch than a modified mustang, so that 1.6 is already high strung, whereas the 5.0 has lots more room for more power. Even if you doubled the power of the naturally aspirated b16a 1.6 your only looking at 320hp. You have to turbo am import to really make power. But a good build is a good build, and taking an economy CR that wasn't made to go fast and beating modified muscle cars is inpressive. I'm not big on 4 cylinders at all, I like a good inline 6, but I respect any good build that's fast.

All you import guys talking about the 6 second supra never mention how its owned by a fucking rich Arab sheikh and that he paid a team of 25 mechanics, drivers, and engineers to make it that fast. Not to mention its a tube chassis with a fiberglass supra shell on it and a spool reared that could never be street driven. marc ginsberg 99.9% of the guys on the track with built muscle cars did it themselves, in their garage. It seems that only ricers think having your car built by some well-known garage is cool. Which is kind of sad, really. I know as a fact that you don't know many people with 900hp STI's, because a 900hp STI is next too impossible. Unless of course, they replace the engine every time they get on the throttle. And, a 900hp STI would need something like 60lbs of boost, and will turbo lag for at least 15 seconds. Yeah. Real awesome. While your 900hp STI is turbo lagging, a bone-stock 425hp muscle car will already be gone by the time 15 seconds is over, and you get boost. Anyway, anyone who builds engines knows 4 cylinder engines are some of the least capable engines out there. It's simple. Less displacement, smaller pistons, means less combustion, which results in less horsepower. I don't care if you put a turbo the size of a Boeing 747's jet engine on a 4 cylinder engine. It will never make as much power as a supercharged V8. Your statement about the GT-R's that have 250k invested running only 7-8's is pretty sad. There are guys with muscle cars that use them as daily drivers, who put 40k into it, and run 7-8 seconds in the 1/4. Now, I have nothing against with Japanese cars, really. I DO think Hondas are fucking pathetic, and everyone who supports them as "fast" cars are real ricers, but otherwise, I'm fine with Japanese cars. Particularly, I actually like Mitsubishi. Mitsu seems to be able to make the most, with the least. I personally own a 1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4, 3.0L V6 twin turbo, AWD, AWS, with the rare Kombat Wing. Bought it brand new in 1999 for $43,000. It made 320hp from the factory, and was faster than any other car on the road. I've since done a lot of work too it, and it now makes right around 530 all-wheel-horsepower. It's a really fun car that's extremely underrated. I also own a 1971 Plymouth Duster, with a built 340 under the hood. From the factory, the car was rated at 300hp, and yet from the factory it ran 12.9's-13.2's, depending on weather and track conditions. Now, all motor, it's making right around 580 too the rear wheels, runs 9.8's-10.2's consistantly, and gets better gas mileage than my 3000gt VR-4.

I love when import guys think they're so fast because they beat like a stock 90's GT Mustang. Like I'm a die hard muscle fan but I would even say that those were slow. They made less that 300 horses, I mean come on. Just because it has a V8 doesn't mean it's a true muscle car.

The 1990's Mustang Cobra R (highest hp Mustang at the time) only made 245hp. Those were depressing times. Luckily, the T/A's and Camaro's were making 315hp

All performance cars from mid 70s to late 90s were pathetic. The dealers were selling cars with great potential. The rest was up to the buyer. The mustangs probably had the most potential cuz they were light weight and you can put just about any motor in them. Thats why there are so many on the strip.

Yes they have Turbo charged 2JZ Supras that run very fast. EKanoo Supra run's a 6.23 is the Record for being the fastest 6 cylinder/import. Keep in mind they have many twin turbo big block V8's that run in 5's at over 250mph. Close to 4,000 horsepower.

Yes, it is a stock car. But don't complain about them putting the effort in. You guys have a stock V8, while imports have to put the effort into their car. If you buy a $5000 Supra, put a V8, some modifications, etc for about $20,000. Would still be cheaper than an elite muscle car, and would also be the same. Also goes good on the circuit too.
