It's not a club problem. Violent men are violent men. Generally coming from childhood. Women are often in a position that makes it hard to report it. Men need to be properly educated from an early age punished severely if they are violent to women or other men. Women need to be better supported if they do report it.

My uncle was a proper hooligan. He threw my goldfish bowl out into the garden and said "look! They're Man united fans.. gasping in shock". As kids it was quite scary seeing a huge grown man go beserk about a game. It actually ruined his Life as he was actually jailed for Hooliganism smashing up a car when he didnt get into a match.

I grew up being a huge football fan but the ridiculous behaviour on the pitch and appalling behaviour off it put me off completely. Also discovered rugby when I was 20ish - much better sport, a proper team game, and much more fun as a spectator (friendly and fun for all ages and you can have a beer or several at matches without fear of violence).

Sorry but i do not believe every woman who claims that they were abused. Its too easy for a woman to make claims without ever making any reports to the police or producing evidence. I know first hand what it is like to have false DV accusations weaponised against you. In my case it was because I wanted to leave the relationship, so she used it as a form of punishment for wanting to leave. I tried to report the violence and abuse I faced and even what my kids had to put up with and nobody would listen because I was a man.

We just had a case in the UK where a woman falsely accused several guys of grape. She only got a 2 year sentence while her victims were facing over 20 years if charged. If a woman is found to have made false accusations, they should face the same jail time the man would have faced if convicted, then they would not be so quick to make false accusations.

I get your point but I don't think the problem is football or all football fans would beat their partners, the same rule applies to alcohol. The problem is men (obviously not all men) but enough that domestic abuse is a pandemic.
