Purchased the new model Dometic CFF 45 model a couple of weeks ago, it is side opening on both sides without reversing the lid, both sides open... I have not turned it off, with a 3 year warranty... I'll be testing that out... I've been on one camping trip in 35C / 95F degree heat, works a treat with no problems , very quiet and I'm very impressed so far, we'll see how she goes as my fridge will be running all of the time not just on camping trips.

Boy the price on these has gone through the roof!! They're now $493 on Amazon. Anyone seen them cheaper anywhere? Thanks for the great video.

You really have to hit up your local distributor. I love amazon. But there are plenty of things there (Like this type of fridge) that they not only over price on amazon. But you end up buying the old models and will never know unless you check the details of your fridge. I'm saving between 300$ to 500$ by going local and getting the website price.

You're going to love the new frig and solar, I know I do, one tip for the no see um's that works for me, the dryer sheet things you throw in the dryer to make your clothes smell good, I hang a few in my Ford Freestyle and wipe my clothes down with them, in close quarters it's always worked for me, plus the skin so soft homemade spray, I'm sure you've tried them but thought I'd throw it out there anyway, another way is head north or for high ground which is what I'm doing now, and I know you know that one :0) , keep up the video's, enjoy them a lot, hope to cross trails with you one day, John Henry

Rusty - good info on the Dometic - but a quick queston: If it were unplugged for 8-10 hours, could you expect that your food would stay refrigerated if the lid were closed tight and contents undisturbed?

Holy cow Rusty. I'm just about ready to put down a deposit on a brand new 2017 Roadtrek. I'm getting it for a bargain price of 106K LOL (I did some add-ons but not as much as I would have liked.) I added on 2 extra batteries for a total of 4 6volt batteries. I added on the underhood generator. 200 watts of Solar from the factory. I added a tv for rainy days. And I might add in their volt start system. (I'm still deciding on that) I'm going to be letting the big bucks fly soon! But I will be all geared up to go to the RTR and be able to boondock on the BLM land. I figure it's worth the money to be able to spend more time with my grandsons and take them fun places. Also I will save a bunch of money buy now having to pay for campgrounds. I instructed Roadtrek to leave any decals off my van and removing the front bumper and adding on a grill to make it more like a work van. (That's why I'm also ordering it in white) I can't wait to get out their with my new RT! I'm going to be in the situation you were in when you were going to order your scamp and it will be at least several months before I get it. I'm ok with that as long as I get it by 12/31/17. I heard some day you might also try to get a Roadtrek. You can get one pretty cheap if you get a well taken care of older one. I heard the older Dodge Roadtreks are very good and are lasting 20+ years and still going strong. It's just getting one that has been well taken care of. When I was originally going to buy used I say tons of them in TX!

One of the caveats that I learned about my ARB unit was that regular auto wiring to the (accessory plug) in the vehicle was not healthy enough to supply the necessary amps to run the unit. 12-14 gauge wiring is too thin, which is what was used in my truck. Don't know if your solar guy mentioned that to you. I've talked to him about a Zamp accessory I needed so I know he knows his stuff.

CF-18 ..the 18 probably means its a 1.8 cubic foot of usable space inside. ! also if you find that it bounces around too much where it is when you travel, you might wanna put it as near the front as you can for a smother ride ..cheers !!

Rusty, Cant wait to see just how much you can pack in this refrigerator. I'm heading to Texas the last week of June and it sure would be a nice addition to my van. No solar here but I do have a 212ah battery that charges off the alternator with an isolator when the van is running. I think the battery weighs 832,000 pounds when lifting it. (smiles)((that's when I tried to lift it)) Usually it runs my locksmith Key and Code machines, lights and charges my laptop. I'm thinking this is an awesome addition for my Texas trip if it holds enough. 4 beers won't do the trick if adding some food. Should I go bigger? Hate to have to install solar at this time.

Hay u, I counted the seconds for your camera to adjust when you moved to a treeed area,because it was very dark. it was about 6 seconds. Then it came up and very pretty.. So talk without moving for about 8. secs. So then you moved left, and it kept up pretty good, except the trees,which I love, and readjusted Faster! ??? Figure that one out!!! ?You work better in your white house than t. lol

@TSunshineful7 жыл бұрын
So is more solar amps going into battery than the total amount of amps the fan and refrigerator are using? Will these run all night even though no more amps are coming in from the solar? I know these are stupid questions...sorry...but I'm trying to understand this.
@TSunshineful7 жыл бұрын
I just looked on Amazon and found this Dometic CF-018-D65-B - is that the same one? I could not find what kind of compressor it has. How did you find out? Did you know it's made in China?
@TSunshineful7 жыл бұрын
Great, just ordered a Dometic, didn't say what the compressor was though. It was only 331.84 today.
@Milesco7 жыл бұрын
@ Moon Dancer: Not stupid questions at all. If at all possible, you want the total output of your solar system to exceed your usage, so that the excess goes to the battery and keeps it fully charged. And yes, it's good to know if your battery has enough capacity to keep your fridge running through the night.
@TSunshineful7 жыл бұрын
I went to a mechanic and asked him to install a stinger sgp32 200a battery isolator relay in my Jeep Patriot just to use for my Dometic CF-18. He suggested I get a Jump N Carry/ Booster Pk 1100 Peak Amps instead. It has a 12 V plug on it and holds a charge for quite a while before needing to be plugged in to DC to get recharged. This is to be used only while traveling and I sleep in the jeep. What is your opinion on getting a Jump Starter to power my Dometic?
@Milesco7 жыл бұрын
Doesn't sound like a good idea. Those hand-held jump starters are designed to deliver a lot of current for a very short period of time. But they don't have much capacity. (That's why they're light enough to hold in your hands.) Also, because they're designed for starting and not for deep cycle use, running them down (as will happen if you try to use one for powering a refrigerator) will shorten their lifespan, especially if you do it repeatedly. Your original idea was much better -- use a deep cycle battery, and then use a battery isolator if you want to charge it using the car's electrical system while avoiding running down the car's own starting battery.
