Hi mate great information. I'm about to order a 19ft van and want to carry my crf450x around Australia with me. How do you find the weight on the draw bar and fitments. Any security issues with having the bike visible to public eye in any places.

Thanks mate! We use the rack from tubb built industries and I wouldn’t use anything else! It’s all going to depend on the van mate ours was built knowing it would be on there, only added 60-70kg to the ball. Thanks for watching mate!

It has a little vent inside you can put up which will stop any water in heavy rain mate. Saying that we have drove in heavy rain without it up and didn’t get any water in. Cheers for watching!

Thanks for sharing. I have one on my new van. Haven’t been on a dirt road yet however when driving on the highway from Melbourne to Sydney I noticed lots of bugs on the bed. The dead bugs and insects came out of the DRS. Wasn’t impressed at all. Do you have any idea of how to reduce or stop the insects from the DRS?

Absolutely loved our DRS in our Freelander!! Have the Carafan in our new Trooper and that’s amazing too! Just depends on what you’re after, both were excellent performance wise!

Isn't it a vent, and not a fan? I thought it wasn't motorised and didn't have any moving parts. Basically a scupper vent with filter and bigger inlet.

Yep you’re correct mate, the DRS isn’t motorised but the Carafan is!

Hey Josh, great review, we did what you said and siliconed all pipe penetration’s and covered vents etc, we had no real dust issues on the Gibb back in June this year. We looked into the Dometic system and while they get good reviews the supplier told us they only work when your travelling above 30 Klms an hour! Due to sections on the Gibb where you travel slower than this they won’t work! I guess prep is the key but I am sure there are many situations where they work. Loving your Chanel

Thanks Peter! Yep that was our concern at the start too, more so if you are pulling over and a big road train comes past and you get covered in bull dust, in saying that this did happen a few times and didn't notice any dust. We are interested to see the different between the DRS and the caravan tho as they work quite differently. Thanks heaps for the support mate appreciate it!

@@Travellingcampers that’s great Josh, we were going to get a carafan but I just couldn’t justify the cost, while I know they work I found it more beneficial to find where the dust got in and fix the problem, happy days, thanks for the reply. Loved the race vids, I used to enduro race 30 years back and jumped on a 460 Yamaha 12 months back and fell straight back into the swing, you will never loose it mate!

The DRS just runs with airflow whereas the Carafan runs with a 12V fan 😊 thanks for watching!

U never mentioned the plastic flap that goes over the filter as jayco told me U need to put it on when travelling in rain or the rain will come in to Ur van & end up with a wet bed nobody seems to mention this 🤔😎

Correct there is! Honestly never used it, travelled for a year in this van in rain also and never had anything inside but yes definitely recommend. Safe travels

Thanks for the review. However you said - "'it's full of dust so it definitely must be working"!! - well > unfortunately that is not really correct (for others that see this). Clogged paper filters being full of dust and bugs is absolutely an issue - the filters are a significant restriction to the airflow from the very start, even when new! and ...they block quickly so the caravan pressure drops to an ineffective level > which, again, fills your van with bull dust again through everything. Especially when passing road-trains and others in the outback and when travelling slow (

If it wasn't full of dust just like an airfilter in the car that has been left for a while and wasn't dirty you would be worried! Definitely a wake up call to clean or replace the filters sooner. We had absolutely no dramas with the DRS and it most certainly works! We now have the carafan in our new van and believe it is definately an upgrade, stoked with it! Cheers for watching Tony!

@666 Dual Sport yep, a gimmick for sure. I have been redirected to better water based solution. I was told they also have a bypass that let's bugs etc in and you have to be MOVING greater than 30k/h or it doesn't work so! so this is totally useless for me offroad 4WD. The review certainly not comprehensive.
