Nice video John! Yes that refrigerator is small, I liked the viewers comment about traveling using the battery instead of gas, I always thought it was somewhat unsafe to pull into a gas station with that refrigerator running on gas. We just got home from Petoskey state park this weekend, there were 6 R-pods in the park. We have a 190 and love it! I haven’t figured out the radio on it yet, hoping you will do a video on it some day?

John, I look forward to your videos. As an R-Pod 190 owner (We call it a STARR-POD) I was wondering if you know what the max slope angle the fridge can be used on. We have a sloping driveway, and to get the trailer level, I really need to do some blocks under the truck to get it high enough, otherwise the trailer slope is about 6-7 degrees.
@JohnMarucci5 жыл бұрын
Joe, I do not know the max slope the refrigerator can work on. I do know it is recommended that the unit be level. I also have a slope to my driveway so when I have trailer at home I have to jack the front up considerably to get the unit level. One suggestion is to buy an eight-foot length 4x6 piece of pressure treated lumber from Home Depot and ask them to cut it into foot-long lengths. These make great props for your front jack and stabilizer jacks, especially on uneven terrain. Get pressure treated so they will last better in the elements. Hope this helps.
@wwjoestarr5 жыл бұрын
Thanks John. I did the pressure treated deal. I think our driveways are sloped similarly (if it’s the one in your videos). Makes me paranoid that tongue being up on stilts. It is also a pain to try and get it that high. Thanks again!

Thanks John, have followed your videos and learned a lot, even reinforces that I am doing things right! However, we are having problems keeping the fridge cooler than 40 degrees to outside temps. @JohnMarucci3 жыл бұрын
The fridge will need 30 amp shore power going to the converter to power the fridge on ac. You can use a dog bone connector to plug your 30 amp trailer power cord to a house outlet. When at the campsite, plug your 30-amp cord directly to the electric pedestal and it should work fine. If not, the fridge should work on propane in an emergency and uses very little fuel.
@slickwilly46133 жыл бұрын
Not sure if I missed it on the video but the 3 ways of power all achieve the same goal, to heat up the boiler in the process of absorption. there is no compressor like what you would see with a household electric refer.

If possible don’t have your RV tires at maximum pressure on the tire. This should lessen the jostling in the cab. For example, my Goodyear Endurance tires go up to 81 psi max pressure, but the trailer says 65 psi needed on the tires. So I set them to the trailer specs and get a much smoother ride. If roads are really bad, it won’t matter much, just be careful opening cabinets and the fridge when you arrive.

RPOD RP 182G with Dometic M8501 that just quit cooling on Propane but electric still works. Blue pilot flame works but furnace dies not engage. Stumped!
@JohnMarucci3 жыл бұрын
I am pretty sure that is the same unit in all the smaller R-Pods. I take it that since you have seen the pilot light working that you have removed the outside panels to inspect the unit. Does your propane stove stay lit when using it? This is what I would check first as there may be a regulator issue with the propane at the tank (I assume you have plenty of propane), if the stove isn't staying lit. If the stove works fine, then it would likely be an issue at the unit itself. Feel free to let me know. Thanks!
@Papa0John3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnMarucci Thank you for responding John. I have gas per stove burners as you said. The yellow caution light isn’t telling me of a gas problem as it does when propane is low but the electrodes have been cleaned and even though the pilot functions it does not go the next step to combustion. So yes... there is an issue with the unit even though it functions perfectly under electric power.
@JohnMarucci3 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that it isn't just a simply Propane flow issue. I just saw a thread on the R-Pod owners forum on a very similar issue that may interest you: www.rpod-owners.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=14712&KW=refrigerator&PID=143263&title=fridge-on-propane-failure#143263

Thanks again. And yes that was of interest. Since my flame comes on and stays on and burns a clean blue I don’t think my issue is exactly the same. I could be wrong. A facebook RPod Group member said he recalls having these symptoms requiring a ‘board’ needing replaced several years back. Unfortunately I am several hours away from anyone who could diagnose that. Laura, on page 26 of my Domestic refrigerator manual there are a series of troubleshooting indicator light tests. It could be any number of issues. You should have a similar manual for your unit with similar troubleshooting tests. First, and easiest is to check that the door is closing fully and that storage door stop isn’t set to keep it from shutting. It could be several other things, including low battery voltage. If you can’t figure it out, call your dealer since it is brand new and under warranty. All the best.

Thanks John. How do you power the freezer on travels days? Or does it just stay cold enough for a few hours?

Just recently did a three hour trip to a state park. Freezer was at -22 when we left and 15 degrees when we plugged back into to shore power at the campsite. I was very pleased with how it retained the temperature. I transported it full of frozen goods and in its box in the truck bed. Hope this helps!

I take eight water bottles and put them in the freezer and rotate them into the refrigerator area and back into the freezer.

John our R-Pod is a 2018
@JohnMarucci5 жыл бұрын
Carl, if I am not mistaken, I think some of the 2018's may have the Jensen like mine and later they changed them to the newer Furrion without the DVD player. If you have the Jensen with the DVD player, I have the same model and plan to do a video at some point here on using it. Thanks again!

John Marucci We have the Furrion without the CD player, disappointed with that.

I don’t really like the idea of the propane frig, especially with an open flame in a park that hasn’t had rain for a long time I’d wish all manufacturers would go to a compressor type refrigerators 12 volt/ 110 even because they use less energy and more efficient

Larry, I think the propane fridge is fairly enclosed within the camper, but I do understand the concern. As far as a compressor fridge, that would use more current, which is generally why I think the manufacturers use these in most RVs. Thanks for the comment!

There IS such a thing as 3 way fridges? My boss made me sound dumb. I said this guy wants a 3 way fridge from us. He said, "There is no such thing as a 3-way." I looked back at the box and either I or one of the other workers wrote 3-way on the box. In my mind I was like, Alright. I guess I'm the dummy.

The Dometic in the R-Pods are three way. Propane, a/c shore power, and battery only. Works well.
