She is definitely amazing. But playing bass with the left melody in the right while singing is pretty standard keyboardist stuff just so people know. A lot of guys and girls can even play foot pedals on an organ while singing and playing with two hands.

Honestly, I almost cried when he introduced them in the ending and they went all out for a few moments how they usually play. Like, we'll play the pop game but here's a little taste of what we can do. It's a sweet little victory, can't wait to see what these beasts come up with next.

@Drum's Corner the verses are literally 7/4 - not the most "pop" time signature, and on top of that both jd and domi are improvising their parts - i would have to disagree on this take. would agree that this song tries to appeal more to the mainstream than their other songs

I mean it's obviously targeting a wider audience and there's nothing bad about it. I'm actually hoping they'll keep going in this direction and find ways to incorporate their style into "pop" music.

Man, that is nothing. I have seen her casually cook a mean pasta putanesca, knit a gorgeous colorful sweater, wash her car, mix a Manhattan cocktail, play the bass part, play the keys, sing the chorus AND pick some lunch from her teeth with a toothpick AT THE SAME TIME. And all of this while riding a camel through the Sahara desert looking for an oasis. Now that was insane!

I mean they're singing the chorus on the studio version of this as well, so you have heard their voices if you've been keeping track of the releases. It's just because of the nature of the recording they have the individual tracks a little bit more isolated so you can hear JD and Domi a little better.

I'm more impressed by how they left so much space and were able to perfect accompanists and ridiculously good back-vocalists as well as being complete insane jazz soloists, then by their super-technical part at the end. Very very few musicians are able to be in their elements in both those situations.

When I first heard "smile" on an apple playlist...i knew whoever made that tune was the one...immediately. then I looked up these guys and I see they are taking off by the day. I actually know the guy who mentored JD Beck on the drums...when I found out who it was, I knew he was in great hands. Dallas, Tx has had a thriving jazz/fusion scene for a long time, and JD is the product of that. His style of drumming is how they do it in Dallas.

Been watching JD and Domi for some time. As a fan of fusion from the days of Weather Report, Jean Luc-Ponty, Passport, Pat Metheny, etc I enjoy their take on fusion so I was surprised they tried rap. This colab worked out very well. Domi's bass line is dope and they sang too! 5 stars! 2:40
