And they listened to the scientists! Yesterday, the same day this documentary premiered, Dominica became the first country in the world with a Sperm Whale Reserve ! 🇩🇲❤️🇩🇲❤️🇩🇲

I am so glad that Dominica understands the importance of protecting zones and no take zones. Its completely common sense if you take ALL the big fish (adult breeders) then the stock will just dwindle down bit by bit until its all gone. They are on the right track and that is what truthfully is looking for sustainability. Good job Dominica well done! Keep going!! Next seek some laws to organize the shipping lanes needed to protect the sperm whales before they go deaf. Great video ❤

Beautiful Docu! My favourite Caribbean island above and below the surface. I sailed into Dominica before Maria as well as last year and the nature must be preserved. While freediving I could hear the whales! Last visit I also hiked the Waitukubuli National Trail and made a docu about it, Dominica above the surface:) It's all connected! We could drink the water from all river without any problem. Let's keep it pure!

I was very fortunate to have visited Dominica in August 1981, it was 2 years after hurricane David. I heard first stories by many local people, particularly those I stayed with in Roseau and Marigot. Now, over 40 years later, I am saddened to see the island still remains vulnerable to hurricane damage. Surely, in 40 years successive governments could have done more to ensure building construction was more resilient to hurricanes. It's always going to be the poorer people of the island that will suffer the worst effects of hurricanes. It's such a pity that this hasn't been addressed better. Fortunately, the people of Dominica are very resilient and their strength of spirit and wonderful nature somehow enables them to rebuild each time.

Appreciate this documentary, Dominica has been able to thrive for years because of little influence from the rest of the world. I grew up in the farming era when exports was the major source of income for majority of Dominicans. Just not sure of the long term impact of focusing solely on tourism to sustain the population.
