Dominican Salve Regina and O Lumen Ecclesiae

This is a recording of the Salve procession after First Vespers of a Sunday in St. Mary's Church, Pope's Quay, Cork, Ireland. This is the Dominican version of the Salve Regina, which is followed by the O Lumen Ecclesiae (O light of the Church), the Magnificat Antiphon of the feast of Saint Dominic. ;

Over the last couple of weeks I had the honor of participating nightly in this beautiful Office with the traditional Dominican Sisters of Wanganui. I could never get through the Salve without choking up at least once. The O lumen always gets me too... Whoever composed that one knew what he was doing!

lincolncity9: same here. But now I'm not in Oxford anymore. Really miss it though, being one of the youngest there. I still have problem trying to sing Salve Regina in the typical Diocesan way. PS. just went on retreat at Ampleforth Monastery in North Yorkshire. I really like the way you wear the hoods as a visual sign to say 'I'm in prayer' :)
