I have mixid feelings about the seaside second edition. Many cards do basic stuff like sea witch( i like normal witch More), monkey (offers no benefit this turn and depends on factors outside your control, Gets good against non big money player), astrolabe (just +buy, very strong with gardens) that are already in other sets. Some cards feel niche like tidal pool ( the drawback hurts a lot), sailor(compareble to ratcatcher and this duration in play effect is hard to utilize) and sea chart(you want to delay the play of this unlike other cantrips). The are i like are pirate (you can gain a treasure card in your turn and they can trigger each other, also pirate synergies with weak cards like harem), blockade (gain in the endgame an estate to deny sneaky 3 pile endings) and corsar( its not a strong card, but it annoys merchant decks). A card that should have been replaced is merchant ship (weak cards like mine, phil stone and scout are at least interesting)

Militia discards down to 3, you wouldn’t discard to 1 with Tide Pools

Yeah you still could. Militia is played before the second tide pool. So you discard down to 3 for militia, start your next turn and discard down to 1 for tide pool
