DOM5 music is considere superior than Dom4 by many. But I must say DOM4 music touches something else inside me. It resonates.

Started with Dom5 only, this music is nice, too but I feel the soundtracks from 5 are much more game fitting. This is medieval music, the new one however has a much more fantasy, epic like feeling to it. Dominions plays in times far older than our medieval times.

I agree but the one thing that really bothers me in Dom5 is that there's no distinction of battle music from the strategy music. In Dom4 (and Dom3 I think) there's a switch in the music as soon as you view a battle replay. Maybe it was dropped on purpose (to avoid restarting the music whenever there's a battle?) but I think it's a loss in atmosphere. Also a problem in both Dom4 and Dom5 is that there isn't really one kind of music that could encompass all the cultures present in the game. I hope that Dom6 will consider thematic songs for all factions. Or at least a few pools of songs (that can overlap a bit) that different factions draw from.

How's the dom4 music fitting tho, compared to the epic themed sound from dom5? It sounds like a maid singing in a medieval tavern during peaceful times, not in a fantasy world full of walking gods, demons and the-like creatures. They would chop her head off and suck the blood from her veins the moment she starts trying to sing, just to start a sabbath. Couldn't think of a sound less fitting than this when playing Lanka, Abysia or one of the many similar nations.

I'd agree on the music between the games. Dom5's music was good, but 4's really just captivates me more. Maybe in Dominions 6 they could consider adding per-nation music themes, or add in modding functions to permit it.

Dom5 it definitely more "epic", which doesn't suit everyone. Personally feeling a bit awkward listening to it if not playing; Dom4 ost on the other hand.. just lovely every time.

@@wiefdiwbofdbw Idk I think dom 5's music is too over the top when most of the time you are scripting wizards or trying to figure out which summon is most cost effective. I much think the medieval tavern music is much closer to fitting.
