Regardless of size, this has to be my favorite channel on KZbin. I always keep coming back and there is always something to watch. I don't think I will enjoy playing multiplayer Dominions half as much as watching Lucid pondering strategic maneuvers and explaining to me how the game works.

Great video! I've only played Lanka once in MP, so I don't have much to add. One thing I will say is that Lanka has a small hidden bonus to reanimation: Since patrolling down unrest from bloodhunting generates corpses, you can have some Raktapatas make soulless instead of longdead.

Awesome video like always. Really love the blood nations and I'm looking forward to seeing what you play with Lanka. Thoough I have to admit I never thought of early Raksshasa when playing Lanka, so here's an idea for a Lanka build I just thought of while watching the video: A Tweps+regen and/or Blood vengance bless for Lanka Since that allow for REALLY killy Rakshasa (the summoned one) early on, and Asrapa later. It'll also allow Lanka to get Pepetaul storm up, to help with quick Air stuff, safeguard oneself from arrows quick and lower everyone's income (which you'd be less reliant on as a blood nation). Lanka can also get storm demons somewhat easily to combo with that. Though this kind of build would really trash all the scales. 8nevermind, lanka has terrible Pretender selection. So getting such a bless cheap is super hard)

I watched this video and while i haven't played Lanka i can already tell that designing the pretender for this nation is going to be tricky indeed. First off, this nation can do a lot, but it also needs to adapt a lot depending on the opponent, so making a pretender that allows these people to go for whatever is going to be tricky indeed. This is because, you really want your pretender for your bless, because every summon wants it and needs it, as well as starting you off with alot of sacred, including recruit anywhere sacreds to tempt you to going hell scales, but they're expensive, and if they will fail they'll fail hard, and this will restrict you from the better sacreds you can get due to your worse economy. The worst part about all this is that Lanka has a restrictive pretender list from the eastern block, so your low on options on paths for different pretender types. it seems to me that for this nation, you just need to be able to make sacrifices and hard decisions, you must feel fine acknowledging opportunities to build your nation, then sacrificing most of them to build the one you figured out was the right one that didn't make victory impossible. To me, for all their strengths this is a very advanced nation, because you have to know every strength of every other nation so you can build proper counters to them when you encounter them on the fly, in the era with the most nations as well. It also seems to me, that because of this, your matchups are going to be very different depending on your build, for example, magic weapons in a bless lanka, will laugh at Ubar, but certainly not top scales communions strat lanka, who's slow communion army is getting raided to death by Ubar. ETC( haven't tried these just made up an example.)

In Dom 4 I did Blood 9 Air 9 (for the air shield and range bonus) and use the javelin guys, that was just hilarious.

I have found 4 nations in the Early Era with recruit any fort sacred units. Mictlan, Kailasa, Agartha, and Lanka. So, theoretically, these are the nations were you need to spend most of your design points on blesses. Wich of these nations requires the strongest bless? Do you have to cut back on the blesses to avoid a grand coalition against you? For example, EA Agartha with an F6B5 E4N7 dom 6 awake Master Enchanter (2xAS, blood surge, hardskin +regen + 1 HP), or an E4N7B9 dom 7 awake Fontain of Blood (hardskin + regen + blood vengeance + 1 HP), E8N10 dom7 awake Great Mother (larger + hardskin + regen), or even a F9A6W6E4S4B4 dom 7 imprisonned Frost Father (3xAS, 2xDS, 2x swiftness, MW, blood surge, extra strength) looks good in single player, but how players would react to it?

The notion to trash scales in an attempt to mass produce unremarkable anywhere sacreds will quickly meet reality that forts are expensive, temples are expensive, units are expensive, and your neighbor is already invading you with elite cavalry and better research.

@ThoughtCrime That's what I love about Dominions 5. I watched a video that ranked Sauromatia seventh from the top among EA nations, and there were comments that it should be ranked _lower._ :) There are so many ways to play this game that players are all over the place in what nations they like best. That's neat! Edit: Lanka was ranked 16th. Admittedly, the guy doing the ranking admitted that he wasn't an expert.
