Yesss I was looking forward to this one. Celtic/Galic pronounciations are freakin WILD. so Sidhe is pronounced "Shee" for example.

Shillelagh is for the assassins. Elf shot is how you deal with skelly spammers.

@@BabelBuilderIt is Conj 8 though. At Conj 6 you can get a Death 1 Glam 2 if you cast Fay Prince in cold scales. So I'd say it's better to take cold than heat when making a pretender. Because in hot scales, these spells give Nature+Glamour mages instead.

I love this nation for strangely the same reason I do Agartha. Funni rock hit head 10 billion kill. Less effective with these guys BUT the sheer volume is greatly entertaining.

Even just sídhe is pronounced like shee is banshee. Yes... that some odd Irish spelling. But is how is pronounced. (And I do wish that English sometimes just translate the word to actually English spelling. Though, English is very inconsistent to start with. Partly due to this tendency to keep or half-keep the spelling of foreign languages. And yes. Once you know where a word is from, the spelling in English start to make more sense... sort of...)

Very good video, just a few comments: The Fir Bolg Druid who randoms glamour is good for combat - someone else can cast Twilight and then they are 2G1A and can cast cloud of dreamless slumber, which is very powerful. And your units have good MR for tanking friendly fire The assassin Sidhe is also a good mage to bring for battles. Pure glamour mages are rare and they can reliably cast Glamour spells off-script instead of the AI doing dumber stuff with crosspaths on other mages. And they are much cheaper for glamour stuff than the 2G1N Sidhe Lord

Time to be a tricksy Elf! I've been trying Frost Father and Duiu of Thunder for Defense Skill and AirShield bless cause I know that one of the big counters to mass glamour is projectiles and glamour benefits from defense skill, but my units just dont have the damage output. But honestly I think the tried and true Ethereal Oracle or Great Enchantress might just be better. Monolith for Reinvig + Ethereal is a choice too. I've found from playing LA Pyrene that the glamour items are very powerful, and slapping the Mirror that gives the Illusory Warriors spell on summoned commanders/ scouts/"useless" commanders in the mid/late game adds insane volume to your armies/raiding forces. On the self buffs you can also get elemental fortitude, alt4 nat1, can be usefull if you know you will fight in cold/hot terrain or if the ennemy use heat/chill, it only add 5 resistance of each but it is enough to negate a good amount of fatigue/damage that you can't otherwise avoid without items (none of your other defensive means really help against elemental effects)

That might be worth more than the proud steed for sure. I think I would want barkskin trinkets to free up the script slow first though.

28:00 Shillelagh looks like a mage protection item to me. *Possibly* good on an assassin (presumably it would replace your life drain though which seems dubious) but probably better protecting against assassins -that's where Retinue is truly valuable.

Build I came up, mostly for blessing troops without sacrificing scales : For a relatively small scale game (on your kind of setting) : Oracle; Water 9, Glamour 5, Blood 4; quickness, blood surge, heroism 2; dom6, heat/cold1 magic1; Dormant. Or if you plan on a longer game (I tend to prefer playing in large Map with 10/12 player and Max thrones, so waiting 3 years isn't that bad, and growth matter more, and also with the mod that add 3 bless points to everyone) : Oracle; Water 9, Earth 4, Glamour 4, Blood 4; quickness, unbreakable, blood surge, heroism 3; dom6, heat/cold1, growth 2, magic 1; Imprisoned. Would love to know your thoughts on it !

Added that one straight to my saved pretenders. Like the way it concentrates repel via attack on all 3 blesses.

Quickness would be very good on your troops and your thugs. I'm sure I will show it, but the combat logs for those thugs were ridiculous against certain targets.

The first Dominions campaign i beat was as Tir na n'Og. I used Displacement and barkskin on my sacreds eith the giant tree pretender. It was a blast. Practically invincible sacreds.

They do love just a tad of extra defensive layers to really take off. I find they also need a little help actually doing damage too.

Babel! So well timed. I started recording over the weekend for the first time ever, and you are one of my inspirations to do so. Just for fun, no pressure to upload, but man TNN is my favorite nation so far and seeing your video pop up made my day. Was really cool to hear your takes after so recently rambling about mine. I rave and rave about the thrice horned boar so you should check it out, hah. Felt like some twisted fate at work ;) Agree on how versatile (and fun!) TNN is. Love all the directions you can take them. Hope the stream goes well!

One of the best things about a game as large and complex as Dominions is it really hasn't been "solved". There is so much room for personal style and skill that even a single nation can be played many different ways! Grats on making your first video! Inspiring others to share their passion really makes me happy! :)

I actually didnt find range damage to matter much to the line sacreds, since they have good shields and hats. Mages and dogs would love air shield though!

My favorite line! (even though im terrible with Eriu) You mention missiles break glamour but in Dom 6 a missile hit will just roll for damage against the unit and not get negated by a mirror image, for better or worse.

Hmm, I will have to confirm myself, since I wasn't looking for it, but according to Kris Lighthawk on Lucid's Discord: "in Dom6 damage to a unit will have no effect on mirror image. Instead one image will disappear every time mirror image prevents damage, and since mirror image can only prevent damage from melee attacks, only melee attacks can remove images."

How does your build stand up to arrows v thug mount (presume barding item?), Fire evoc magic, AP fire arrows? Otherwise it seems so strong as is the good quickness bless that another comment specified with possibly same weakness? Spending on fire res really mucks up the perfection of such builds...

They did surprisingly well against arrows. Often the archers chose to close to close range since they were swarmed in melee. If not taking the elemental rez, you just need to pick your targets carefully.

I think ri is okay enough as big leaders with some magic capabilities. You can recruit 2-3 throughout the game and use them to lead big stacks of sacreds from your capital

Shillelagh seems like a great way to get luck on squishy unmounted casters for only 3 gems with a hammer.

is 5 gems a lot of investment to put permanent luck on a 600+ gold mage slow-to-recruit mage? I guess it is if you think they are unlikely to die because of their native defenses or if they are just site searching and not in battles.

Those Sidhe Lords do pretty well with bows with their 12 precision. A couple of Fire Rear snipers can be helpful.

instead of bows consider the 1G1E sling at Construction 5. It is a great way to make a ton of chaff illusions and if you have weapon blesses it will proc with 6 sling rocks per shot

1:00 Sidhe is pronounced She (as in the pronoun) -with maybe just a hint of j in the sh. I know it makes no sense* but you can expect a whole lot of that with celtic-related lore. I think it was bad transliteration from Runes but I'm not sure how it came about and we're stuck with it now. (don't ask me to pronounce any of the others -I mostly see this stuff in novels and have no idea how to pronounce it) "Ephemeral" is eff-EM-er-ul (not effeareal) -but that one's all on you :P * There are some rules but I don't find them at all intuitive

IMO the Shillelagh is meant for your magic assassin. Definitely going to try something like your dormant hellbless, but just like Hellheim, I think you should try a imprisoned rainbow scales as well. Just Defense/Awareness/Heroism + whatever is very good on these elf glamour nations.

Defensive things that help you not get hit, plus things to make your repels better seem to be the power combo on troops like these.

This isnt super specific to Tir na n'Og but for the units that will get bogged down by skele-spam would the Dancing Spear item be good for them? Ive always thought that item seemed really cool and it'd be fun to see it come in handy

From Irish - Pronounced "Teer na N'Ogue" (Land of Youth). Not "Nog". Fir Bolg is pronouned Fir Bul-ug. (Men of sacks or men of thunder according to interpretations).

@@BabelBuilder Though I've played them lots of times, especially in 5, I don't have anything in particular that I go to, I'm still a newb and I've only ever played single player. I'm still trying it stuff.
