As strange as it sounds, it was the graphics that drew me into dominions when iv released on steam. It's my favorite turn based strategy game ever since then, the mechanics and lore are crazy, there is no AAA studio out there under a publisher that could make a game like dominions. I think this is the time that i will get the printed manual as well....

Kinda how I discovered Dominions way back when. I looked at the graphics... looked at the passion in the comments... Immediately thought: game that looks like this that has such a devoted following has to have something special. Bought it to find out what this special something was. What a wild ride did it take me on...

Finally a player that knows his stuff and doesn't gloss over the lore and details of what he is doing(And also doesn't seem to name their Gods stupidly). Been searching for someone like you to understand the game and decide if I would be able to play it without being completely lost. I fell in love with the Dominions world and lore. But the gameplay sure seems overwhelming. Anyway, will definetly watch your content and I wish you much success on the platform!

39:00 Namanari are pretty efficient researchers, especially given that they are not sacred. 9 base monthly research for 72 gold yearly upkeep ain't bad. other than those few Demon Priests that random magic paths, I think Namanari are the most gold efficient researchers on this nation.

There is some upside to going cold scales in that you do get a slight mobility advantage in that Dai Oni has Snow Move (they aren't slowed by snow) and Mountain Survival allowing them to use mountain passes even when it is cold and of course the cold also allow them to cross rivers Probably not worth it but there is something there.
@BabelBuilder10 ай бұрын
Very true. I think the heat spawn oni are just better than the cold spawn ones. I don't think that cold is unplayable, and as you pointed out, there are actually some advantages!

I think the freespawn barbarians from your god were actually hugely important to how you played this. You just needed a tad bit more mass than you were producing especially for early expansion. They provided that handily, I dig it.

So i tried doing Yomi, and i went awe and fear, figuring it would really stack a 10 fear, awe 3 and make enemy all but worthless. It never seems to really do much. I haven't finished this stream yet, but did you notice it being effective? I'm wondering if the two just don't stack well? Or is awe all but useless? Maybe just me and my luck?
@BabelBuilder9 ай бұрын
Fear will help with awe, but if you want to force enemy retreats you need to stack fear units and/or more sources of morale penalties. Panic, terror, casualties, ect.

Oh, Yomi! Every new version of Dominions that is released the devs re-balances them. And even so. After so many tries they are still weak! Cool! But weak! In MP they would get rushed down long before they could ever get much of a free spawn factory up and working. And the "Reduced income" text in the description is not flavor text. You really get less income with the same scales as Yomi than other nations! I guess this is to balance around the fact that the free spawns does not cost any upkeep. They used to cost money back in previous editions.
@chuckwood342610 ай бұрын
They are however pretty decent at researching despite the nation description as they can buy cheap mages with only a lab in mountains or highlands. Because the mages are weak they also benefits from magic scales for research. Later you can build skull mentors and lightless lanterns for extra research.
@BabelBuilder10 ай бұрын
Being weak does give you an angle in negotiations in MP though. "I'm just poor weak Yomi, let's team up and take out Hinnom. Don't worry about me!" You can't have such huge asymmetric gameplay and have perfect balance.

I know this will sound like a dumb question but is a Oni Kunshu a viable diety for Yomi? And if yes what bleesings should I go for for a Kunshu?
@BabelBuilder9 ай бұрын
An oni kunshu could work. If you are going to try expanding with him you will need hard skin and a hat. Survivability will be #1 priority. If you are not going to be expanding with him, something cheaper will be a better choice.

@@BabelBuilder Yea I gone to test it out and I noticed that moral is a huge problem for Yomi so I tried to add "inspirational commander" buff 4 times and it seems to work quite well since is easier to overwhelm the enemy with (somewhat) loyal chaff

Hey brother as someone who is trying to learn towards the 5:45 minute mark or earlier you just kinda started skipping the battles. Maybe you know what happens but it makes it really hard for someone watching to understand when your jumping around so quickly. Just a tip for enjoyable content creation for viewers, maybe not for veteran players but I believe most people watching this are trying to learn how to play the game. I could be wrong.
@BabelBuilder10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! It can be a bit of a tight rope between what to show and what to skip. Hopefully, the most impactful, and useful for learning are being shown and explained a bit. I think the more recent streams are improving in that aspect too.

I'm just getting into Dominions. I was curious about these dominion stats... who tf would want a garbage kingdom with lazy people and corruption. Nice to know that some factions actually do benefit from such environment :D
@BabelBuilder10 ай бұрын
Well, its not that the people want it. You are an almost all powerful wanna-be god. Its like: 'why worship an evil god?' You may not have ever had a choice. Game wise, yea its really cool when you play nations that have trash scales. In some sense it makes you a less interesting target, especially if you have like extreme temps and death scales. On the other hand, sometime people just want to get rid of that before it becomes a problem.

I didn't play Yomi particularly well here, but I feel like they are doing alright. Which nations do you feel are weaker in 6?
@torlekjpec57085 ай бұрын
I feel like the factions are more balanced in 6, granted, I like dragons and dragons seem more viable in 6. For factions that I think are weak... after about to write a few I normally consider due to playing R'lyeh. Both Oceania and Therodos have things going for them it's best though if they are only water nation and not get hit hard by R'lyeh or Atlantis. I think balancing for land nations depends if using a pre-made map (if I know 1 in 4 to 1in 3 territories is forest = forest survival nation. I made a random map that ended up with 3 out of 10 territories mountains. Messing with mountain percentage, ruggedness and hills/craters really can setup the map for certain factions which makes interesting single player games.
