Nice review. I really like Domke. I've got a couple of their bags. I've been using the f5 xb lately for small gear. It's pretty minimalist.

I bought this bag and although it is a good design and perfect for a camera and 1 or 2 primes and few other accessories it has some major design flaws which i had to mod. the clasp in front is almost impossible to undo with one hand without cutting a finger. I cut it off and used a small double carabiner in black from REI. Just as secure and easy to push open. the strap is very uncomfortable with no padding and in my opinion even with a mirrorless camera and lens and iPad it cuts into your shoulder and not easy to adjust quickly like some of the sliding straps. so I cut it off and just clipped on a nice thick seatbelt strap from a timbuktu bag with some padding. Those are the two major issues I had with the bag. Also I got it for $40 bucks on amazon about a year ago, this is not a $129 bag and no idea why its priced that high now.

Yeah, I hear you. The clasp is a throwback and the strap pretty basic. I like it, but it's certainly not my most used bag.

Good review thanks...some other reviewers were complaining about the wax rubbing off onto their gear? Hmm I guess some have more wax then others maybe.

Thanks for the kind words. I've had the bag over a year and maybe when it was brand new I worried about it a little. I've never rewaxed it and I don't really plan to. Perhaps if I lived in a wet climate? Maybe if I wasn't such a bag whore with a million other bags and I used this one every day I'd be more inclined to rewax it? I've read about waxing cotton/canvas then throwing it in the dryer on low heat inside a sacrificial pillow case, the idea being wax inclined to come off would do so inside the pillow case (as opposed to inside your dryer). If I decide to rewax it, I'll give that a shot.

Nice bag,,,only thing is does the wax come off on your gear, hands or clothes

You know, at first a little bit did. I would notice a trace of it on a fleece, or something minor like that. Now that I've had it a while it's not really noticeable anymore. When I say a "trace" I really mean just that. Of course I can only speak for my experience, but the wax that rubbed off was really minimal. Enough that I noticed a couple times, but not enough that I'd complain. I have a waxed jacket and I have to be careful which insulation layer I wear under it, because so much wax rubs off that it's annoying. This bag is not like that at all (at least mine wasn't). And now that it's a little older it's pretty dried up and not so waxy. I could re-wax it of course...
