There is actually a person inside playing this.. it is a wonderful job to have to be able to play for an entire city everyday in the clouds.. and everyone who has played the Domtoren clock tower has their name engraved in a plaque at the top.. not only that but this giant instrument is a mechanical masterpiece and has 3 parts to it

The other, swinging bells which function as the main church bells for St. Martin's Cathedral (of which this is the bell tower) are rung by hand, making it one of very few churches in Europe that still do so.. Not sure about the old men in robes
