DON DOKKEN Goes on Record | UNDER THE SHEETS with POISON
Don discusses His Friendship with Poison’s Guitarist CC Deville and why Ritchie Kotzon was fired from Poison.
Dokken formed in Los Angeles in 1978. It split up in 1989 and reformed four years later. The band had several hit singles which charted on the Billboard Hot 100, such as "Alone Again", "In My Dreams", and "Burning Like a Flame", and have sold more than 10 million albums worldwide.

I was in Sacramento for the last day of that Poison Richee Kotzen 94ish tour. I have never seen so many hot chicks at a concert, 3-1 female male ratio. There were about 90 to 100 waiting to get back stage all lined up to the left of the stage at Cal Expo. Then grunge happend. Motley Crue and Poison were invisible and hated by everyone in that 90s era. Except me, I played Crue, Poison, Dokken and ALL hair bands as loud as my speakers in my car would go!! People forget about how hated Motley Crue were back then. Now it is "in" to be a fan of their's.

Almost same exact thing happened to me over 30 years ago…I’ve been in many local bands over the years and there was this young kid who was a friend of mine he was a new upcoming fantastic guitarist. I live 20 miles outside of Buffalo NY and I’m a Native American/ Canadian Indian and around that time the Seneca Nation of Indians were making millions selling cheap gas and smokes. There would be lines for miles for gas one gas station would sell gas for $1 a gallon and another would charge $.85 the lowest I’ve paid was $.23 cent…yep CENTS…anyway there was this one crazy filthy rich Indian dude who had a mansion on Lake Erie worth over $8 million and was a good friend of Stevie Ray Vaughan and had a signed hand made guitar in a hidden secret room in his house in an amazing glass case on his wall and whenever he’d go to jail his wife would have coke parties with bands and etc it was a good scene. I take this young guitar prodigy to one of the parties and the Indians wife took a huge liking to this young men so I went home he decided to stay the night. The afternoon I get a call from this guy asking if I was home and if he could stop by quick to show me something cool….I said sure he opens up the trunk and shows me the Stevie Ray Vaughan guitar that the Indian dudes wife gave him and this kid was a huge Stevie Ray Vaughan fan. He couldn’t believe it. I told him immediately hop in your car and I drove him back to the house and put the guitar back, and he asked me why I said because that Indian dude is one of the craziest guys you’ll ever meet and he’ll be home in two days and if he sees this gone, I’m sure another stent in jail would not bother him because he would un-alive you without ever blinking an eye. Sorry the story was long, but Don D just reminded me of what I did… pretty crazy.

You know his "black belt" story is BS. Everyone around martial arts knows it's a carotid restraint not a "chokehold"

But everyone outside of martial arts does not know that. He was talking to people who don't know martial arts. Relax.

Don, there is no such thing as a 1959 Les Paul Deluxe. The Deluxe wasn't introduced until 1969. If anything it was a 1959 LP Standard. Get your sh!t straight. If it was indeed a 1969 Deluxe they weren't worth but maybe 3-6K then.

So, Don couldn't stand George because he was supposedly messed up on drugs or booze, yet Dokeen is friends with CC? Do you get the feeling that Don's full of sh1t?

Ritchie Kotzen has more talent than every member of Dokken & Poison combined. I dont think he was the least bit concerned about getting kicked out of a band who's best days were far behind them.

Ritchie got fired, but the wife was forgiven. Maybe the mouth cancer he got came from her came from Ritchie sticking her?

What? You realize this was back in the early 90's and CC had a serious coke habit. Once he got clean it completely changed around.
