***** OMG!!!! The dude wrote THE RIFF !!!!! Henley and Frey "wrote" the SONG...... Geez...people !!! He was a GREAT guitarist.....and he contributed...NO DOUBT....but he didn't,...doesnt,...nor ever WILL 'Make" the band. Let it go......
@neaituppi73069 жыл бұрын
Marc Robinson Let me explain what a song is. The song is the main chord structure, the bass melodies. Felder wrote the Main song structure, the bass lines the guitar solos, even the ones Joe played, and Felder even came up with the style of the drum part. Normally, in the arrangement stage, other band members come up with their own instrument parts. But this song, Felder did everything except the lyrics. A riff is just a guitar part that plays off of the main chord, or as an intro or ending. Like Life in the fast lane. Joe came up with the intro riff, and Felder and Meisner worked on that and came up with more of the song itself.. And then Glen and Henley came up with lyric ideas. Trust me, if Felder hadn't brought in 70% of the song that he did, there would have been no Hotel California, and since that contributed to their huge success, they would not be honored.
@marcrobinson93059 жыл бұрын
***** Let me explain to YOU that I've been making a living in the music industry for 27 years......and a melody line on cassette is one thing,...LYRICS, arrangement , structure, etc.....That's where the MAJOR aspect comes into play. now....as for the TRUTH of the matter, Felder got his credits as a "writer" on Hotel California....but let's not get carried away here, even Frey and Henley credited him with the chords,.....but as for "Writing THE SONG",.....stop this.....

Don Felder and Peter Frampton - it doesn't get any better than this - Rock Gods! Long live the 70's! Good to see Felder out touring after all that stuff he went through with Frey & Henley.

:Don Felder is renowned as former lead guitarist of The Eagles, one of the most popular and influential rock groups of our time. The bandʼs record-setting compilation Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) sold over 29 million copies in the U.S. alone and was awarded by the RIAA the top-selling album of the 20th Century. Currently Don and the Eagles have sold more than 83.5 million albums. A member of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1998, Felder served as a member of The Eagles for 27 years, putting his mark on numerous Eagles milestones. Felder originated the music and co-wrote The Eaglesʼ biggest hit - the iconic, Grammy-studded smash “Hotel California” - along with fan favorites like “Victim of Love” and “Those Shoes”. He became immediately celebrated for his lyrical, signature guitar work on legendary songs like “Hotel California,” “One of These Nights,” “New Kid In Town,” and numerous more. “Hotel California” was recently voted the Number 1 best 12 string guitar song in the world by Guitar World magazine. After leaving the group in 2001, Felder also became a New York Times bestselling author when his riveting confessional memoir “Heaven and Hell: My Life in The Eagles” proved a major commercial triumph upon publication in 2008 and went on to become a New York Times best seller. Four time Grammy award winner, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, New York Times best selling author, amazing guitarist and captivating performer is the best way to describe Don Felder today. Felder has not only worked with The Eagles but also in both sessions and live performances for numerous music legends spanning the musical spectrum: The Bee Gees, Peter Frampton, Bob Seger, Michael Jackson, Alice Cooper, Kenny Loggins, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Boz Scaggs, Warren Zevon, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Vince Gill, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Paul Simon, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand - and even old friend, Steven Stills. Don is currently touring with Foreigner and Styx in support of his new CD “The Road To Forever” which features some of the best musicians and close Felder friends in the business including Crosby, Stills & Nash, Tommy Shaw (from STYX), Randy Jackson (American Idol). Steve Lukather and David Paich (Toto). The latest single “Wash Away The Pain” has reached #4 on the classic rock media charts between Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones and has been critically acclaimed throughout the industry.

Ocean City, Md. • Saturday, September 13, 2014 I've covered concerts at Springfest, Sunfest and now Bikefest, so now my trifecta here in town is complete. After seeing Don Felder in early June opening up for the Foreigner/Styx summer tour, I knew it would be a longer set and was curious what new songs he'd play. The band took the stage first, a well seasoned group of musicians with many accomplishments featuring Shem von Schroeck on bass, Timothy Drury on keyboards, Greg Suran on guitar and Scott Devers on drums. Finally Don Felder comes out with his signature double-neck white Gibson SG and starts right in on the intro to "Hotel California," the song that he had closed with on the Foreigner/Styx tour in the summer with Tommy Shaw helping on the song. Then it was "Already Gone" and "One of These Nights" after which he asked the crowd if they were into hearing a blues song, bringing on a rousing applause as the band broke out a Stevie Ray Vaughan cover of "Pride & Joy." Felder, who wrote a tell-all book after the Eagles fired him, kept referring to his old band through the night as "The Seagulls." and I wish I had a clue on this one. He did a great job of playing their old hits such as “Victim of Love," "Peaceful Easy Feeling" and "Tequila Sunrise," a song he said was written from a night of drinking "Cuervo Gold." Felder then told us that "Seven Bridges Road" was a song that they used back stage as a vocal warm up before Eagles shows and that got just about the biggest applause of the night. He next played "Those Shoes" with the "talk-box" guitar lines and a heavy dose of bass making this sound just as it did in the late ‘70s. And from Felder's 2012 solo album, Road To Forever, came "Girls In Black," and from the animated film of 1981 was "Heavy Metal" (Takin' A Ride) to which, surprisingly, most people sang along. Now as Felder says "Let's Keep this Party Rocking," "The Long Run" and "Witchy Woman" which he dedicated to Tiger Woods for unknown reasons. Felder looked great and had a smile from ear to ear all night long with a good responses from the crowd, even though the night had been dampened by some nasty rain storms moving through our area. Then it was "Heartache Tonight" and "Life in the Fast Lane" to close out their first set. As the crowd was cheering for one more - one more, they got just that as the band returned to end their 75-minute set with "Take it Easy" to bring OC Bikefest Saturday night to a close. I hope Don Felder and band do tour more often as this and the June show I saw was the first from when I had last seen him with the Eagles on their "Hell Freezes Over" Tour at the world famous Spectrum in Phila., Pa. This guy sounds great and with such a great touring band that he deserves more than he got from his old bandmates, "The Seagulls." - Gary Crouthamel - Concert Photojournlaist

+tigerbalm The bible says "speaketh no ill of the dead" I think!! All members of the Eagles made a great living. Felder especially. And recall an "asshole" is a useful body organ and hell does not exist.
@daveballapico78759 жыл бұрын
+tigerbalm If Don and Glen are such greedy assholes why did they pay Randy Meisner's medical bills a few years back which were significant. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Meisner www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/music/eagles-randy-meisner-shocked-glenn-frey-died-67-article-1.2502052 The reason that greedy rumor is prevalent is Glen said he and Don should get more money then the rest which lead to the reunion. Joe Walsh and Tim Schmit didn't care only Felder cared. I mean Glen even said we, Don and I, kept the band going for 14 years after by having solo careers that kept the Eagle';s name in the spotlight. Don and Glen also wrote the lion share of the material or wrote something out of 3 Don Felder; riff (This one,Victim of Love, Those Shoes). Felder always thought he was better than he was. He was upset that they eventually went with Henley on Victim of Love I mean can't you blame them as Geffen called Henley "Golden Throat"; and he still sings the same and can you tell from this Felder version he really isn't a strong vocalist.

So much better than so many players, these two, and so much more humble! Felder got a terrible shafting from Henley & Frey. But he rose above it and moved on, with his amazing score for "Hotel" tucked right under his arm. His soloing on this song and "Good Day In Hell" are proof-positive that Felder was as good a player as any guy backing two of the biggest bastards in show business. It's probably the way Harrison felt working with Lennon & McCartney. Many also blame Felder for the formulaic sound and meticulously structured live solos, but it was Henley and Frey that insisted they be spot-on each night. Walsh and Felder said they felt restrained, but The Gods had spoken. What's a guy to do, playing guitar for the most successful band in America for nearly three decades? You done good, "Fingers."
