Don Felder and Joe Walsh, my ultimate favorite Eagles member

Me paro para aplaudir a este maestro de la guitarra. nunca pensé que podrían sacar esas melodías con una guitarra acústica. Don Felder es el único capaz de hacerlo.

I was born more than 20 years later after the 1977's version was released. Not many people from my generation in my country know this song. Yet I'm so happy to know this since my father is a guitarist and he used to perform this song on stage when he was young and he's still playing it now when he's 70.

It is amazing that he wrote that entire guitar part, including solo, by himself with no lyrics. Then the lyrics were added later by Henley. The universe was determined that the song had to be written.

Don Felder in a stunning performance, with the solo of "Hotel California" on an acoustic guitar. In the early 2000s, I had the pleasure of dining at the famous restaurant on the Santa Monica Pier where the "Eagles" composed the wonderful "Tequila Sunrise" and "Lyin' Eyes". And right next to the table where they used to sit, now a historic piece where no one sits at anymore. The best Californian group, along with The Mamas and The Papas, Beach Boys and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Eagles forever! Paul Pecchio Campo Belo neighborhood - SP

I'm proud to say Hotel California was the first album I ever owned. The documentary was very interesting and at the same time disappointing. Don Felder seemed like the only band member who wasn't greedy and/or petty. Still love the music though.
@adamwilson61038 жыл бұрын
if he wasn't greedy then why did he hate doing benefit concerts ?
@stellarcompanion8 жыл бұрын
He wasn't affiliated with politics and was uninformed. He didn't feel like taking a stance for something that didn't interest him.

That's irrelevant, hes says don and glenn where greedy people but yet he be grudged doing benefit gigs because he wasnt being paid.....that sounds just like greed to me
@stellarcompanion8 жыл бұрын
Well at least now he does a lot of charity events and basically wants an excuse to play anywhere despite compensation. He's a very humble man and just wanted to play music. When he got kicked out it's because he felt like nobody wanted to be around each other.

I was hoping to hear how Mr Felder came up with the lyrics because it is not only the music but the words of the song that made Hotel California famous. I interpreted the lyrics way back in 1996 which I published in a magazine (local of course). I wonder whether my interpretation of thr lyrics are true - it's about the transition of America from alcohol to drugs
@pauly714 жыл бұрын
I read a Don Henley interview and he said the lyrics represented their (Eagles) transition from their innocent background to the rock lifestyle of drug taking. Did Felder write the lyrics? I thought Henley and Frey did and Felder wrote the music only? Maybe I'm wrong.
@DavidMThangliana4 жыл бұрын
@@pauly71 I really don't know who wrote the lyrics, but from what I could get of the interview, I just jumped to the conclusion that anyone from the band would know how the song came into being. Thanks for your reply
@mughal22096 жыл бұрын
Forget the stats.... greatest song and band period... as far as the public is concerned. Felder was a great musician but it's the mystical lyrics that made Hotel California what is is. Very unique and revolutionary style not to mention daring. Felder in my opinion got greedy after he realized how famous this song became... he was not Mr everything as he claims....if he was then why couldn't help duplicate his success without the Eagles. Henry and Frye were the driving force behind the Eagles.

Well, ... yeah !!! maybe !! ... So the typical question can be applied here; What was first, the egg or the chicken ?? Felder brought the main theme and the other guys put some lyrics, .... so ??

It's just so sad. These guys (Felder, Henley, Frey et al) were all millionaires several times over but they all just wanted more. They were living a beautiful life of pure hedonism all funded by the people who loved their music and who paid for it from small wages they earned by driving trucks for days at a time away from their partners, or by risking their lives as cops, or by working on garbage collection. These honest, hard working souls could never have dreamed of the party life enjoyed by their musical heroes but still they supported and still they paid and enjoyed the stories of sex, drugs and rock and roll that somehow made their lives better How did "The Eagles" reward those who paid for their lavish and expensive lifestyle? A lifestyle by the way that included ridiculous, childish vandalism which would have seen any "ordinary" person jailed fora long time? By fighting and bickering like spoiled children, by throwing their toys into the corner and by storming off leaving those who had loyally supported them with nothing that's how. I have loved the music of The Eagles since I was 15 years old. It has meant a lot to me throughout my life as it has to my wife. For that reason we paid to see them play Wembley Stadium a year ago and for sure it brought back wonderful memories for us but I will say for sure that those memories are not what I would have wished because I know that the beautiful music is being produced by angry, selfish, grasping and needy children. Music 10 - "Eagles" 0
