A beautiful build! Thankful Atlantis does what they do. Modeling has made a great comeback in recent years I think. I really enjoy building the kits again I had when I was younger. At 71 years old it brings some much needed diversion, fond memories and happiness to my world. Thank you.

Very nice, just to hopefully help out. The item you refer to as coolant lines and tank are actually a crankcase catch tank. All crank case pressure is vented thru it and the tank is Bomb proof just to keep things from making it to the track.

I built the OG kit way back when and have another sitting in my stash. Now, thanks to you, I've ordered both the SR XXX and Mongoose's dragster. Love seeing these old drag kits coming back and your vids building them. Thanks!

What a great build. I built, the U.S Army top fuel "The Sarge" a few years back. Driven by Tony Schumacher. That was a fun kit to build. And if my memory is right. It was Don Garlits was the first driver to sign Sherry Muldowney licenses to drive top fuel

Picked up this kit. It will go with all the other Garlits kits I have built.

An absolutely beautiful build! Watch Big run this car at Memphis back in the day. Don is a dear friend I've seen and talked to him many times at his Drag Racing Museum. Great job Atlantis!!! Remastering the older molds, and offering fantastic examples of the early kits is fantastic. The '57 Chevy Bel-Air by Atlantis brings back so many memories of childhood. 🙂

Don and my uncle Don "Skip" Tuttle were longtime friends.... my uncle would go down to Dons house in Florida each winter and theyd go to speed week together in Daytona. I love to see the RFC decals on the decal sheet! I have the same on my BMX bikes :)

Don Garlits' Swamp Rat with a Keith Black engine. Keith's "cam ground piston" technology is used in EVERY gasoline engine in the World today. Aluminum pistons deform in a steel cylinder at running temps. In the early days round pistons deformed to egg shaped. Old cars would burn oil and smoke when warm. This cost power in dragsters. Keith made his pistons egg shaped (Cam Ground) when cold. After warm up they distorted to round making them "leak proof" WINNERS. Keith Black engines powered the winners.

Thanks for the great review! Looks amazing! Used to build alot of dragsters in the day. Have a fun and safe holiday and kayaking!

Both of these kits are quite impressive. The chassis on the Don Garlits one looks very intricate but at least it came together fairly easily, and I like the additional details in the Tom McEwen car, particularly the "Christmas tree" and the seated driver figure. I knew this build was going to be interesting the moment I saw the thumbnail for this video, and if you put the two cars together both with seated drivers plus the track official, it would make a nice drag strip diorama.

The real dragster is on display at the smithsonian museum transportation section

No, it is in storage in the basement, government will not authorize return to Big

Yes the 30 is at Smitsonian but Garlits had 2 different streamline dragsters that looked similar, Swamp Rat 30 and Swamp Rat 31, both flipped over and the 31 is at Garlits own museum in the chrashed state.

I bought the Atlantis Camaro in 32 scale, hated it. Hopefully this is a bit better quality. I had the Revell release as a kid, and I've been wanting it ever since but not willing to pay the few hundred bucks.
