That's what I thought too but it actually does take place after Child's Play 3 and it has Chucky returning to a new family to finish a job he started more than 20 years earlier.

If you did a google search, you'd find that they're doing Curse of Chucky as a sequel, and then using the funds from that to help fund the remake.

Just so you guys know, this movie will not be hitting theaters.This is the 6th installment after Seed Of Chucky, It is a straight to DVD release. The remake will be hitting theaters.

Child's Play has been one of my favorite franchises since I was a kid I absolutely LOVE Chucky "Bride of Chucky" is my favorite one it's been a LONG time since we heard anything about Chucky I honestly thought "Seed of Chucky" was the final one so im REALLY excited about this new sequel but its too bad its not being released in theaters like the other ones

This movie was originally supposed to be a remake of Child play, and then they changed it, and it was also rumored to be released in 2011 and that was actually posted in a MAGAZINE. So why the hell do they keep expecting us to believe that they'll release it this year when it was supposed to of been here 2 years ago, I've been waiting SO LONG FOR THIS

it was going to be originally, a childs play remake. They stopped doing that and changed it to curse of chucky and it won't even be in theaters i heard, it'll just go straight to dvd lol

Curse of Chucky is the 6th Childs Play film to be made,but Don Mancini said it will take place after Childs Play 3 and act like Bride & Seed of Chucky never happened. Also the other Childs Play will be a reboot not a remake.

That's a cool idea, and I would definitely go see it, but it wouldn't be a "Chucky" movie without Chucky. Hollywood always needs a twist of some sort, and that idea has no twist.

child's play 1, 2 and 3. all 3 movies were chucky working solo. some fans say that by the 3rd film, chucky wasn't as scary as in the 1st and 2nd. that by this time chucky lost his scare factor and was more funny then scary. this tidbit of information was what made them make bride of chucky, they did this thinking that maybe adding a partner for chucky would save the movie gen. alot of fans say that bride of chucky took a diiffrent step and was the best chucky film to date since the 1st one.

Why would anyone let Don Mancini take the credit for creating Chucky and Child's Play? The other people who deserved the credit are Tom Holland (director and co-writer of Child's Play) and John Lafia (co-writer of Child's Play 1 and director of Child's Play 2)

Love Child's Play that was my psycologic terror since i was a kid, i still dream with him.. i dream he come's and kills my family and we fight in a very goree way until i die... yeah but i know see it normal i don't get scared he it's like my friend know on my dreams, i hated the bride of chucky it was'nt horror anymore and the son of chucky the same, they looked more like a comedy movie, hope this movie Chucky.. my the horror of my childhood come's back...!!!

After the Curse, there have been discussions as to reboot the franchise, drop it all in 2015 i believe with Child's Play 1 remake.. and go on from there :) I for one would like to see CP1 and 2 remade with different cast even Christine Elise as the mother in CP2 as a twist (since she was the adopted daughter in CP2) Just my thoughts on this subject =)
