I'm 59. Today there is no equivalent to Johnny Carson and all of the entertainers of the mid-to-late Twentieth Century. Have you seen the clip of The Tonight Show from 1969 with Bob Hope and Dean Martin and George Gobel ? Bob Hope was just an onlooker. Dean Martin was the super-quick-witted one of the bunch, making wisecrack after wisecrack. Near the end, he starts flicking his cigarette ashes into Gobel's drink -- and the audience go nuts. After a few minutes, Carson says, "At exactly what time did lose control of the show ?" The whole thing was just hilarious. Today, virtually all of the late night hosts are libtard dipsticks and their shows are about 75% Leftist political drivel. They're stoopid, and I'm not going to listen to those idiots preach their liberal BS. Along with about 150 million other people who aren't. The Sixties, Seventies and Eighties truly were the Golden Age of comedy and TV entertainment. All of those names we grew up with were the best. Golden Age, indeed.

I was one of those lucky ones at Harrah's in Tahoe. I had a black velvet coat on and came in with my beautiful girlfriend. The concierge seated us at center stage, first seats (because of an earlier tip to him). Rickles basically asked me to stand up and then asked me what I was doing with such "a nice lookin' broad. You look like a pimp." He was awesome. Nowadays, too many people don't know how to laugh at themselves and don't realize that people like Rickles, Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor relieved a lot of the tension in society, believe it or not...cuz basically they loved people and liked to tease them, make fun of their foibles...no matter the race, religion, or politics. Today, we censor ourselves and act mechanically towards each other. Sad that many don't know how sad this is.

caddidon...... No Truer words spoken, and how starved we are for Real true People all the way around these days... meaning "solid" people with integrity, real intelligence, and common sense... sadly and seemingly, a thing of our past. I find it interesting that all this generation (Rickles, Carson, John Wayne, Michael Landon.. etc, etc, etc..) that has now pretty well passed on, seems to coincide with the "passing of America" as well... the greatness of what was Once the USofA.... is No Longer, we now live in a country that has truly lost its way.... as has, most of the world in general. Very Sad, indeed.

It's one of the most naturally hilarious and cute because you can tell the whole panel is enjoying themselves with each other. When Dom DeLuise died Mel Brooks also made a statement to the same paper, telling them that DeLuise "created so much joy and laughter on the set that you couldn’t get your work done. So every time I made a movie with Dom, I would plan another two days on the schedule just for laughter. It's a sad day. It's hard to think of this life and this world without him.

My god...what has happended to comedy on TV... This was the ultimate in its day.... I can recall when the tonight show was 90 minutes.... Johnny would do at least a 15 minute monologue if not longer.... Then after a break would come back with 15 minutes or so of shtick.... And if he only had 2 guests he and a good 30 minutes with each.... I got to see the famous Burt reynolds shaving cream show... And then from 1980 to 1984 saw every show.... It was nirvana.... Then Letterman came on the screen on NBC.... Brilliant... Never missed a show... When he switched to. CBS it tanked.... Not as intimate as the NBC set... Was lost for a long time till Craig Ferguson came on.... Absolutely brilliant... Nothing came close to his show.... And since he's left all that's left is a void.... These so called comedic late night hosts have no talent... And the talent they bring on have no talent.... Hollywood has become nothing but a vehicle to promote violence drugs and sex.... No class anymore...... Just vacuous empty headed animal food trough wipers... There's only been a few movies made since the 1960s that are worth watching.... And very few television shows worth watching since 1980...its all violence drugs and sex.... Comedy has vanished... Real comedy... Not this drivel with canned laughter... Most of the good comedians have passed.... RIP.... I have to end this as the tears are coming....

Back in the late 80's through the late 90's I used to work at the Bristol Ren Faire here in Wisconsin. And One weekend... a bunch of us "Python Disciples" decided to RE-ENACT the "Constitutional Peasants" Part from MP and the Holy Grail! We actually got costumes from the costume/prop room and some of our own stuff that we made and YES a bunch of us ALSO Rode Around the Faire with "Squires" banging two halves of Coconuts Together that had been brought to us by African Swallows, John Goldstone and Ralph the Wonder Llama!

@Sunamiren "and I fear for the future." Don't! We don't deserve it. Humanity is at the brink of auto destruction. The existence of the human race is the most nefarious thing that has happened in the history of this planet simply because of what we have considered our particularity as a claim to own the planet, namely our "intelligence". We always hear "OUR PLANET" as if it belongs to us. No one owns the planet; it is just there. But when we think we own it, we massacre the fauna and the flora as if it is there for our convenience. We fight against each other to own as much as we can of it and we collectively become predators. Our "intelligence" is totally uncontrolled and we also decimate each other for what we consider our survival. Animals thrive on instinct which is devoid of calculated planning and left alone, they do no harm to the planet. Certain nations go full scale killing whales for unnecessary reasons, others decimate forests for farming land, destroying what is considered as the “lungs of the planet”, namely the tropical rainforests, or for palm tree plantations. Others exploit the remnants of long gone fauna and flora that have become the carbohydrates, for which the major wars we are now living at the very present exist, to fuel our vehicles of all sorts, cars, planes, ships etc. Humans are starting to realize that WE ARE harming the planet. But unfortunately, it's too late. We probably still have time to extend our existence for a few hundred years but our innate greed and selfishness will continue no matter how hard we will try to reverse the process we have initiated. I don't believe that our "collective intelligence" will be of any help simply because every day that passes, things get worse and worse to a point of no return. Humanity will NEVER see the day when everything will fall into place for the betterment of the planet with us as passengers. This beautiful planet will survive to become what is used to be before the human invasion. Once rid of it's cancerous cells, the humans, for the next few billion years, it will thrive along with the flora and the fauna after which it will be engulfed by the sun as what is the fate of all planets. And that will be just wonderful. AMEN!
