I've only watched Don Rickles on "The Late Show With David Letterman", Sheray. He is one great comedian! He was introduced as Mr. Warmth.

He was friends with U.S. presidents Eisenhower, Johnson and Nixon. He had revival events called the "Billy Graham Crusade," and he desegregated his revivals in the 1950s, at a time when most evangelical services were racially segregated. He had a sometimes-contentious friendship with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and he had personal meetings with 12 presidents in a row (Truman to Obama). However, he did not associate himself with Jerry Falwell's Moral Majority, which was aligned with the Republican party. After Nixon, the only presidential candidate that Graham endorsed was Mitt Romney. Graham died in 2018, age 99, and his body was displayed in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol before his funeral.

In case you didn't recognize some of the other attendees that Rickles was talking about, George Shultz was Reagan's Secretary of State, and Charlton Heston (who was probably in the audience because he was president of the National Rifle Association) played Moses in the movie The Ten Commandments. Rickles was joking about Heston playing Moses despite not being Jewish, comparing him to Elizabeth Taylor, who played Cleopatra despite not being Greek or Egyptian.

@@jimuicker4731 Good call on the Moses line LOL, but I don't think the Taylor comment had anything to do with the Moses line. Otherwise though, good job with giving the info. I just realized you replied to yourself to add on more info.

Emmanuel Lewis, who played Webster. :) Billy Graham was a big name evangelist back then. Wilkie was an old candidate in one of FDR's elections. At that time, Reagan must have been the oldest president we ever had, until we got to Trump and Biden, so it was a joke basically for that generation.
