However instead of airing new editions, they took highlights from the previous week and edited them into a 50 minute edition. This meant so many monologues and routines never aired in England. Only big star interviews, the odd Carnac routine and that was it. A lot of Ed's bits were never seen, and apparently British viewers wrote in asking what Ed McMahon actually did on the show?
