It always blows my mind to hear people say that Russian is a coarse sounding language. It is literally the most awe inspiring music to my ears that I've ever heard. Even when I can't understand, it makes me smile. This woman is amazing.

Thats because of the Yankee propaganda showing actors in films representing Soviet Soldiers or Politicians who come from rural background. The kind of language spoken by soldiers and politicians is always coarse, irrespective of the language.

Здравствуйте! I have to say that's an amazing program you share with us and very interesting way of learning Russian language! I started about week ago, and I am satisfied with my progress. Just have one question if anyone can answer and help me : it's about rule of reading I guess , usually when the word has letter ,, O,, we usually spell ,, A,, for example : Москва, but in pronunciation we say мАсква? And in some words when we have letter O we just spell O, can't remember any example right now, but the question is when we O spell like A, and when O stay O? I hope you understand my question :D thank you in advance for your answer and explanation

Hey, better late than never)) If the sound is stressed, then it stays O, example: the word КОРОВА (cow) which is pronounced as KAROVA (second O is stressed). Another example is МОЛОКО (milk), pronounced as MALAKO. And there are lots of words which are pronounced the way they are written: САПОГ (boot) -> SAPOG КОШКА (cat) -> KOSHKA ПИСЬМО (letter) -> PIS'MO In all of them stress comes on letter O. Hope it helps

fransisca rosaria from what I understand, it has to do with male/female. like ‚he‘ is pronpunced ‚ono‘ ‚she‘ is ‚ana‘ but both are written with ‚o‘ in the beginning. But I am still learning and I don‘t fully understand it yet.

it's simple, for example: хорошо is "charasho", because the stress is on the last o. a stressed o is pronounced as "o", an unstressed o is pronounced as "a". it means when speaking, you put the stress on the last "o" (in this example). the issue with stressed vs unstressed is that the stress sign is typically only written in children's books, like so: хорошо́

She’s a pretty walking phrase book but she doesn't actually teach you anything! If you really want to learn this wonderful language you’ll need to get down and dirty with conjugations, declensions and cases. This is really tough for native English speakers because in English, with a few exceptions, conjugations are simple, declensions don’t exist and case applies to personal pronouns only. She is offering you ‘Honey Pot’ Russian. My advice - Look elsewhere.
