To be honest I wasn't impressed when they brought in chip & pin payments. For years they've been sending out new cards and a few days later sending the pin with instructions to change it immediately to something more memorable with added emphasis that this is your private pin and not to let anyone else see it. What do they do then? Make you use it for payments on a machine that's bolted to a till at shoulder level so any passer by can catch a good look at what it is. Then they have the bright idea of making the cards 'contactless' so anyone with a reader can skim money off your card as they walk past you in the street. I bet that did wonders for the wallet & purse industry as everyone needed to get the new 'shielded' variety. Still, it's quicker than those clunky machines that took an impression of your card that you then had to sign 😂😂
