I coated the inside of the truck receiver and the hitch sleeve itself with a high grade marine bearing grease the day I bought my truck and hitch. Every so often I clean it all out and reapply. My truck is 6 years old and I live in upstate NY...the road salt capital of the world. I still have no rust on the useable portion of either the receiver or the sleeve. Sure, it's dirty and cruddy as hell but it's all trapped in the grease. No rust. It's a bit of maintenance a few times a year but worth it. Hitch slides in and out nicely every time.

I now have a Ram Laramie 1500 with a BW 5" drop. All depends on the height of the trailer. To be honest I bought a new boat and when I measured for the drop I needed a 4" so I went with the 5", but after I hooked up to the trailer I had to keep raising the ball to where I didn't need any drop at all...so the weight of the trailer plays a roll as well. I'd measure and then go from there. There is a video on the BW site on how to measure.

Thoughts on spare / replacement pins and clips? While I know the majority of the hitch can't be stolen (assuming you also purchase a locking receiver pin), but if someone were to pull the clips, and maybe the pins too, on hitch height and / or ball swivel, you could be in a world of hurt. At a minimum, I purchased a locking receiver pin, and a bag of 3 replacement clips. But also thinking about 3 spare pins as well. Thoughts ???

If you pull multiple trailers then this is nice but if you have just one or two trailers then just get separate single hitches and keep them in your cab or covered box. Think about this, to stow it, you have to pull two pins, flip it, then install two pins. Why not just take out the whole hitch (one pin) and put the hitch in you cab or box.

I think it's driven from insurance. With this hitch the ball is on the back side it wouldn't do as much damage. Like I said I'm not a cop a judge or the law but I did hear that as an old wives tale . i have this same hitch on my 2016 silverado, my balls spin around a lot easier than yours, yours look like they aren't as easy to spin around as mine, i love my hitch, i keep it stowed until i need it

Couldn’t they easily steal the 3 balls?

No, that piece can't be removed while the hitch is in the receiver.

I think it sucks! If you happen to drag your rearend..Bam!! there goes your balls! If they dont break off , Im sure they'll bend ! Someone will try to Steal it, and probabaly screw up your hitch..

The ball section can't be taken off while the hitch is attached to the truck. If someone breaks the lock on the truck then no matter the hitch it will be stolen.

TackleJunky81 seems a little extra. All that moving around. I think I’m gonna go with a geny bitch and put a heavy duty lock on it. Thanks for the videos!

Ridiculous...I like my hitch sticking out a bit. 1) It's not that hard to remember it is there, unless you are a tard 2) it protects the bumper from impacts. I've been rear ended once at a stop light...it was modest collision, and the hitch took all the impact. I didn't have a scratch on my truck, but the other car couldn't be driven away, 3). It protects your truck from backing collisions, 4) It provides a step to reach into the front part of the bed. A hitch sticking out is a non-problem. Besides, if you are really so dumb you can't see or remember your hitch, take off the ball part and store it in your lock box or in the cab. Note that the Curt Class V Commercial has the highest rated tongue weight available, 2700#, while the best BW is only 2100#. This is because the Curt has 1/2" gusset reinforcement behind hitch. BW doesn't have this, and can't, because of the dumb stow idea.
