definitely put the 2" clamp on backwards
@nascardude863 жыл бұрын
Great products. I think you installed the 2 inch one backwards. The 45 degree fold down should go facing the rear to rest against the smaller tube . This levels it out with the wider flange over the receiver .

Technically, you are correct as that is what most instructions say, but mechanically, it really doesn't make much of a difference as you want that downward force. When it comes down to it, it's mainly personal preference.

I have had Super Strut clamps on my hitch for twenty plus years. It works better with the bottom plate turned the other way. It sits flatter for the nuts to apply pressure. They have them in the electrical section at home depo and such. It's way cheaper to buy them as Super Strut clamps than it is to buy them rebranded as a hitch clamp.

Great advice I will take Thank You!!! I have not even bought my RV yet. I do not believe my dad ever had any hitch clamps when we carted out boat around. Nor any stabalizer bars. No You Tube back then. We thought we were 'big time' when we went, from a hand cranked winch for pulling the boat up the trailer, to a key operated electric winch.

Concerning the 2-1/2", think about what you have done. You have lifted the hitch with the device so that the entire hitch weight is now carried by the single bolt that tightens it together. The 2" is backwards, according to most manuf. instructions, but at least it clamps the hitch down in the receiver.

Cool videos! Well done and good camera angles to clearly see what you are doing. The only constructive comment I would make is that the angled edge of the bottom plate on your u-bolt style clamp should go the other way around. The angled edge goes against the draw bar and NOT against the receiver as you have shown. This keeps the plate horizontal when you tighten it up and keeps if from jamming against the threads. It works your way. Just not as well. Also see the spec sheets that come with the U-bolt clamp. Small thing. Otherwise, fun videos to watch !

On the 2” hitch lock you need to flip the metal plate around so the bent part is on the hitch. Also when a trailer is on there I don’t see the issue with it being a tad loose. Most trucks my entire life have had some play and one you learn how it’s moving around it’s no biggie. Now I can see it helping to keep the noise down when your not pulling a trailer but when the trailer is hooked up not needed.

I welded a couple thin fender washers on the hitch to eliminate all the play. Nice snug fit, no tools needed to switch the hitch to a different height for different trailers. If I only had 1 truck and 1 trailer, then those clamps would be a good solution.
