the hype was made very big by the well-known cod zombie player, it would have been a fun game if there was a good balance and you weren't always stuck when you walk around in the levels, which makes the controls feel very bad and it is a bit makes it less fun to try to progress. It also seems a lot more difficult when you play alone

I could not have disagreed more with cod zombies not being story driven. There are videos on here that are HOURS long that explain the story. And I think the way treyarch went about it was great, if you wanted to just shoot zombies and chill you could or you could do the Easter egg and get more story and lore depth.

I see your point and it’s totally valid! I will say however that they deliver the lore and story indirectly, like how you pointed out through Easter eggs, rather than a story heavy game with cutscenes and cinematic bits that offer deeper immersion. Something, for example, that you wouldn’t have to search an hours long KZbin video for to get the story and lore explanation, you just get it by playing the game. This is what I think could have been expanded on in a standalone title.
