Whenever it's money related, when a mexican asks for a "loan" they are usually asking for a gift out of your kindness. One time I asked for a loan of 20 pesos so I could arrive at school, from a local street vendor I did small talk to (quite a common reason for asking for money to strangers). When I was able to repay the debt a few days later the mister just said "it's ok, don't worry". Another consequence of this, is that people will default to asking for something to be "borrowed", even when it's a single use item like a straw or a tissue.

Denied, i've eaten hot sauces since i was a kid haha, just ask for the green tomatoe sauce and ask if it has chili, the green one usually really isn't spicy, another advise, if the sauce is red, it is bound to be fire in your mouth, really hard at first, but an acquired taste with time, takes the tacos to another level

Actually Its not that accurate as you make it out to be. Out of all the cases out there-this is mine. Its happened with 2 different people. I went to visit 1 person and after quite a long visit i said to him- "well alright im gonna get going now" and he says (Ex: "oh alright yeah say hello to your mom for me, how is she doing anyway? does she's still need surgery? I heard she was having issues with her health insurance, whats gonna happen?)" So im telling this person im leaving and he asks me a question expecting an answer that now i have to give it to him. So i answer his question and i say alright ima go and he asks about something else close related to the last question or he starts telling me his time he needed surgery and tells me all that he did. And this repeats itself over and over AND OVER again for almost an hour. You see, ive been trying to leave for the last hour but this guy isnt letting me. So its not that ive already said goodbye im leaving a lot of times but im still there, that doesnt mean i dont want to leave, it can also mean the other person isnt letting go his visit and out of respect we delay ourselves to leave.

The best one is by far that "no pica". As a weird mexican who doesn't like spicy food at all, I'll say that the right question is not to ask if it's spicy or not, but to ask if it has chile on it or not. "yes, it has chile but it's not spicy", yeah, right, think I'll pass. Also, about salsas, it becomes easy to learn which salsa is the one with no chile at all (usually there's always one)

When I was 22 I had a wisetooth extracted, and avoided strictly any spicy food for two weeks. When getting back from that spiciness deprivation, I could not beleive how spicy was the food I was used to... Then I got a grasp of what is like for the average foreigner. Ever since, I trained myself to be more spicyness resistant... Afterwards, when I had to go to a work trip in Ottawa when I was 36, the people there challenged me to a familiar size jalapeño topped nachos plate. Those jalapeños tasted like the ones cannes by "La Costeña"... After 10 minutes I was the only one of the four in front of that plate eating form that plate, and then revealed openly to the rest of people at that particular restaurant my origin, and kept eating to my satisfaction. No stomach issues that night or the following ones.

I also had my wisdom teeth removed and and was forbidden to eat any spicy or greasy food... And the first thing i did after my appointment was ro go to a restaurant a few doors nearby the dentist office and order tacos de birria con su salsita y sus chilitos toreados en aceite de guarnición... Y todo con su salicita y su limóncito.... ...surprisingly(or not, a huevo) the most painfull par was not when the sauce, salt or grease touched or entered in the just operated cavity, but when i accidentally tried to chew and the birria pressed against the flesh lol... still, no regrets

Forrest Gump used to say, “Spicy is as spicy does.” One can build a tolerance for the heat and that’s when you really get the flavor. I also find that spicy food help limit my appetite, so I don’t overeat.

Lmao the "on my way" is so true 😂😂😂. Last time we called my aunt to come over for breakfast and we specifically told her we'd start three hours before but even then, she was four hours late. we called her to see what was going on and she was like "I'm on my way" 😂

5:51 the correct sentence is: "ya voy saliendo para allá", o "ya nos vamos yendo" (this one is a claaassic in family meetings/parties 😂) it means: we are going to stay talking another 2 hours and then we may leave .

It's true about the everlasting goodbye, specially at parties, we even tease each other by saying "no te ibas wei?"(weren't you leaving?) and they respond with the classic "uuuuuuh" or "aaaaaaah" then we laugh it out, but no one leaves though XD

Always fun to watch your videos and educational too. Pretty much the same in Jocotepec as you experience in Mexico City. If in doubt about a salsa I put a few drops on the back of my hand and taste it. I love the heat, so I usually ask to try the hottest one. If it's got habaneros, I'm right there. Also, we were told by several Mexicans when we moved to Jocotepec is was a quiet peaceful town. I guess the cuetes that go off at 6AM, noon, afternoon, evening, and after 10 for the last week or two don't count! Oh well, I didn't move to Mexico to sleep and the parades outside our casita are bonito.

Thanks Richard! Yes trying a bit first is a good tip... it seems not to check if it's too spicy... but to make sure you are putting a proper spicy salsa on your taco!
