What if the very mother and father are the ones that tried to physically and mentally hurt you? How can he say don't say anything bad about them?

It may not change what has already happened but in order for one to move on and transform the mind, one must forgive.

What I have done in that situation as a Buddhist is to remove the toxic people from my life and I have gone no contact with 90% of my family. I have found that It is easier to forgive and retain equanimity from a distance. I also think a negative family dynamic is from previous bad karma and the worst thing to do is to cling to it. You are not here to take care of your family, your actual purpose is enlightenment - for yourself. Also therapy...lots and lots of therapy

Going no contact is icing people out, which is just another kind of anger. I guess you have to decide for yourself how much you can tolerate. You have to have wisdom before you can properly extend compassion. @@melammutumultus4654
