Nice guitar touches from John. Guitar solo unusually harsh, garage. Woodsticks giving it a unique personality without taking the stage. Mr. Martin's sprezzatura is indeed a big part of the group.

It's just cool seeing that Meet The Beatles cover. I grew up with the Capitol albums but they are lost to time and garage sales I suppose. We pretty much wore em out by that point anyway. Cool tune that has grown on me over the years. Well played George. RIP dude.

Since she's been gone I want no one To talk to me It's not the same But I'm to blame It's plain to see So go awa, leave me alone, Don't bother me I can't believe That she would leave Me on my own It's just not right When every night I'm all alone I've got no time for you right now Don't bother me I know I'll never be the same If I don't get her back again Because I know she'll always be The only girl for me But 'til she's here Please don't come near Just stay away I'll let you know When she's come home Until that day Don't come around, leave me alone Don't bother me I've got no time for you right now; Don't bother me I know I'll never be the same If I don't get her back again Because I know she'll always be The only girl for me But 'til she's here Please don't come near Just stay away I'll let you know When she's come home Until that day Don't come around, leave me alone Don't bother me Don't bother me Don't bother me Don't bother me Don't bother me

George wrote this in a hotel room when he had a nasty bout of the flu. By this point, George had only co-composed one song ("Cry For A Shadow" with John) and was encouraged to compose some songs of his own. It's nice to have the original mono version of the song (even if it's still "Dexterized" with reverb & echo, making it sound live without an audience, because Dave Dexter Jr. thought that the original British mix sounded too dry. Hopefully, Apple Records' lawyers won't take this blog down.

What an awesome melody and of course George Harrison was a great songwriter who penned this one. Back in 1964 and in later years top 40 radio stations played a lot of Beatles album cuts and this was one frequently played. This was their first album to hit the charts in the USA and was #1 for 11 weeks. Fourteen more albums of theirs would hit #1 in the USA.

This is a great song! I mean, I can see why it's not as well-known as several of the early Lennon-McCartney compositions, but this is really good and has an interesting, unique melody. Even the early Harrison was no slouch, and still probably better than 95% of what was being released at the time! 👍

You're right! It has a special chord progression and george's voice, very unique tune. May not be among the best known songs but I am glad it's in the 1964 movie (a hard day's night) and the fine ladies of the day loved dancing this gem

This song was my first MEET WITH the Beatles (In USA this LP was named MEET The Beatles,, equal this photo, and released at England as WITH The Beatles), this was in 1971 when I was 4 to 5 years old! I was immediately fascinated by the unusual rhythm and different sounds of the guitars, like "twang" and a vibratto, the bass with a hollow sound. This sound became my reference when I spoke of the early Beatles. Then I grew up listening to all the wonderful repertoire of masterpieces of contemporary music, but George's first immersion in pop composition, his debut in the artistic milieu of the early 60's as a music composer, makes me feel the atmosphere of the times in Hamburg and the Cavern. , even though I've never been there...
