So glad I found a decent 08' and avoided most of those issues. It's hitting almost 320k miles but still reliable and nothing annoying to daily it. Your videos were definitely a deciding factor to get into the gang, thanks for all the helpful content and stay TSX!

The '04's eat oil, its a known issue. I've had mine for 20 yrs and its always consumed oil. I fill a quart every 2 weeks. I run royal purple with a k&n filter and the car runs so smooth. 308k miles and still runs strong as my daily. Best car i ever owned.
@RishMedia4 ай бұрын
Still a great car just a bigger girl that likes to eat more lmao.

I've owned an 04 6 speed for about almost a year now. I bought the car with a blown gearbox and swapped a new one so it sat for awhile. When I first started driving it, the oil consumption was BAD. Every tank of fuel it consumed a litre and I am heavy footed lol. After putting about 10k km's on it, the consumption started to go down, notably after a mountainous 9 hour drive at high speeds and mid range rpm for like a couple hours (4-5k rpm). I was quite surprised because now I only need to top it off at the end of the month. I've put 25,000km (15k miles) and it's sitting at 305k KM going strong. I am also running SergeBo's reflash. Very fun daily. Edit: Also I have no oil leaks (knock on wood).

definitely consuming oil on my 06 6sp and at least 2-2.5qt per 3000mi, so pretty similar to 04. about 167k miles and still climbing. keep up them vids! fun to watch

There are a few things I changed on my TSX for oil leaks. 1) timing chain tensioner (due to wear) because after spirited driving not only does the chain get affected but it kind of weird. 2) vvt Solenoid - found on the right passenger side with that funny 10mm. Less than $50 3) vtec solenoid gasket got worn so I cleaned it out (I got vtec but it was delayed at times) less than $15. 4) oil filter adapter gasket (plagues all k series) 5) plugs and coils. Most of that plus as you said drivings style affects oil consumption. Plus everyone has a form of autism and add - just at different levels of functionality as there’s a ton of information overload with expectations. You got this man, one trick I use to navigate is that I learn what causes the LOOP. You’re on your way because you took the first step to seeing the pattern (I over think a lot and have turned it into a skill from a curse). Stay blessed 💪💪💪
@RishMedia4 ай бұрын
Yupp and I’ve been meaning to do all those gaskets cause I bought a kit but then the accident happened. But yeah man it’s a cycle of stuff trying to break with the endless amount of life stuff going on. All we can do make better choices and keep the head high!

My 08 6mt burns oil too, just a reality. I've replaced tons of shit mechanically, but just due to age at around 210k miles including alt, starter, brakes, ac compressor. They pretty much all failed one after another lol. Previous owner got into a fender bender but nothing too bad.
@codystarr11744 ай бұрын
I just bought my 04 6 speed tsx about 4 months ago and the original motor ran great no hardly any oil consumption , then one night hit a large puddle and my intake sucked in a lot of water, and damaged the internals of the engine, replaced my motor with a low mileage k24a rbb-2 head engine, and this motor has really bad oil consumption issues, I’m currently in the process of waiting on another replacement as it’s covered under warranty so hopefully I won’t have this issue on my next k24

I feel lucky to have found a low mileage 05 6spd I was looking for one years ago and kinda gave up my current one kinda found me when I was looking at an Accord Sport at a local dealer been the perfect daily for a couple years now recently did a glass out repaint so definitely no plans to let it go anytime soon. Purchase at just before 90K currently at 145K no oil consumption issues only thing it had was the CV Axle vibration issue which was a day one thing I had to fix after buying it along with some maintenance I did some basic brake and suspension upgrades at the same time although it was originally a SoCal car per Carfax it was a costal car so it’s got minor rust around the trunk seals (it’s been taken care of) majority of the stock suspension I replaced had minor rust as well (again gone now) unfortunately my engine bay shows being on the coast as well I’d have to replace a lot of the hardware and clean a bunch of the raw aluminum to make it something but I’m not because it’s an outside Bay Area NORCAL car now

I chose ktuner v1.2 for my 08 obviously not as good at hondata but at legit less than half the cost and with most of the main features needed it was a no brainer was able to drop vtech engagment to 5k instead of 6k turn up my injector flow and make vtech hit way harder gained with bolt ons gained ab 25 hp over stock keep in mind mine is a auto you would see even better gaines with the 6 speed

Aye that’s cool man not as many people go ktuner route but I feel like it’s a good option especially compared to how pricey hondata is.

I have an 04 with over 200k miles and haven't had issues that bad. That car looks pretty rough. Some shimetsu grease might help rejuvenate those seals. I had water pooling in my spare tire I couldn't track down so I made a hole for the water to drain and now it's always bone dry. Had the AC drain hole clog and pool water in the passenger side but besides that never had water ingress even going through a car wash. I had an oil leak from my oil pan because the previous owner was a moron and sealed it with a gasket and after that's fixed I've had hardly any oil consumption. It goes through a bit of oil on the track but normal street driving pretty much 0 oil consumption.

I remember I tried 87 octane once and shortly on the freeway, the yellow malfunction light illuminated and said "check emission system." I freaked out. When I refilled the next time with premium gas and reset the code, the light never came on. One thing I never understood is the inconsistency with the message on the fuel door and owner's manual. While the fuel door says premium fuel only, the owners manual says premium fuel is RECCOMENDED, NOT required, and would cause fuel economy to decline. I get a about 700km per tank. I also like the aux feature in my '06 TSX where i can connect to my phone abd play music through the speaker.
@RishMedia4 ай бұрын
Yeahhh some people stand by with 87 regular but most people steer away lol, glad the issue didn’t stick around for you. Yeah the 06-08 had some of the better small perks and upgrades which why I’d prefer to get those years. 04-05 needs the blue tooth transmitter makes it harder for cleaner music.
