I was in Houston, but I had a Champion Digital Hybrid 4,000 watt generator. I HIGHLY recommend it. It ran our full size refrigerator/freezer, modem/router, 55" tv, Amazon fire stick, LED bulb in lamp, desktop computer and monitor, two space heaters with 750/1500 watt settings (ran both at 750 setting each), and two phone chargers. It only took about 5 gallons to run all that, non stop, for 36 hours straight. The generator runs about $550, weighs about 80 lbs, and is quitter than most. Our house never got below 63 degrees inside.

Don’t forget about the generator safety tips as well. Always make sure you follow all the generator safety rules whenever you use your generator. Remember that portable generators can be dangerous if not used carefully. Here are the generator safety tips: This is just a safety reminder 1) Please do not allow an unqualified person or your children to operate the portable generator. Just because some manuals don’t say that doesn’t mean it’s safe. That is important against the generator safety rules. We also need to be keeping an eye on our children too. You need to make sure that your children are not playing near the portable generator especially when it’s running so they won’t get electrocuted. Generators pose electrical risks and they can be hot during an operation. Please keep your children away from the portable generator at all times. It is important to keep our children safe especially our little ones. Be aware of all the hazards. 2) Some people use their portable generators indoors which increases the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. It’s important to have a carbon monoxide if you have a gas generator. Never ever use your generator indoors even if your doors and windows are open and even in the garage is not safe to use a portable generator. Not even at your porch and your deck. It is never safe to use your generator indoors and in enclosed areas of your home. Your generator needs to be 15-20 feet away from your house. 3) 🔥generators cause fire hazards too. Never refuel your generator while it’s running. You need to let your generator cool off before refueling it and before storing your generator. Never overload your generator too. Never ever back feed your generator. You should never plug your generator into a wall outlet. Also never store propane tanks indoors. Please keep flammable things away from the generator as well and please don’t smoke cigarettes near the generator. Having a fire extinguisher next to the generator is also important against the generator safety rules. 4) generator operation; make sure your hands are dry before touching the generator. Never use your generator in wet conditions. Don’t let your generator get wet. You need a generator tent if you need to use your generator during wet weather. Please don’t wear loose clothes when operating the generator. Turn on your generator before plugging in appliances. Use the right cord for your generator. Please do not use worn out cords. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2LNhWZ3g6qBrKs and here is a video more about keeping others safe when using generators and also about our family’s safety. DuroMax is an excellent generator. Mine is almost seven years old and it still have the original starting battery and it still fires up on first try every-time no matter how long it’s been sitting. I never crank it for maintenance. I only start it if the power is out which happens about three-five times per year. The last few times I used it, it ran continuously for over 25+ hours. The only problem I have ever had was that the carb sucked in some trash one time and my neighbor fixed it in about 20 mins. This is a fantastic generator

the reason for the rough start was the engine trying to buy 2 fuels at once, gasoline had one octane and propane is roughly 110 octane, so it doesnt ignite as fast as gasoline so it will have preignition and then reignition from the propane until the gasoline is used up. for those folks wondering why the rough start. If you notice at the end the engine started running full steam after a few seconds

Great generator. Last year I bought the 13000E gas only and added a Natural Gas conversion kit to it. We used it twice in New Orleans after hurricanes. It ran my whole 1500 ft house, AC and all. I had issues getting it to fire up each time, it would take 2-10 minutes. I switched conversion kits and still it was finicky. So, they just released the new 13000EHT Tri-fuel. Yes, I upgraded and with the new keyless remote fob, it started within 1 second. Awesome! We are ready now! Great review.

When running propane water will build up in your carburetor bowl and needs to be drained. Also you need to run a little of 100% ethanol free gas with stabilizer to protect your carburetors internals from rusting up because of the propane that creates water as it runs and will fill your carburetor bowl and will cause damage over time if you just use propane.

The small Honda generator is the best. And great on gasoline! 1 gallon every 6 hours n it’s quiet. That’s only 4 gallons per day and portable and runs about a whole house. Those large ones are gas guzzlers. But can’t run a lot all at once. Like microwave and AC at the same time. Shut one off whole using the other. But worth it to not use so much gasoline. Maintenance is changing the oil once in awhile.

Here is a reminder about portable generator safety: this is only a reminder for anyone who use portable gas/propane generators. This is just to make sure you are aware of all the warnings and to remind people to be careful using the generator. Every year after hurricane and winter storms, there were reports on the news that many people have died each year when using generators due to carbon monoxide poisoning and electrocution during a power outage. There were reports about deaths when using generators when the power was out. There is something very serious that everyone should always be aware of when using generators. Some people do run their generator indoors which is not safe and that increases the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning which can cause death of family and you. Some people run their generator in wet conditions which can electrocute them. Here’s an advice about generator safety: please remember that you should never run your generator indoors. Remember that carbon monoxide is an odorless and colorless gas that you cannot see or smell. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer. Keep that in mind. Make sure your generator is 15-20 feet away from your house and away from doors, windows, and vents. Having a carbon monoxide detector is very important against generator safety. Some people also allow children to go near the portable generator which could pose risks. We need to keep an eye on our children making sure that they are not near the portable generator so they won’t get electrocuted or burned by the generator which is dangerous. A locking enclosure also keeps kids safe. A generator shed might look like a tempting place to explore, or take cover during a game of hide and seek, but a generator is a dangerous piece of equipment that can cause injury. It says on the manual that we should also keep children away at all times from the portable generator to avoid injuries. Please don’t permit a child or unqualified people to operate the portable generator. Generators pose electrical risks. If you need to use your generator during wet weather, you need a generator tent to protect your generator from getting wet. Don’t let your generator get wet. Keep your generator dry and before using your generator, please make sure your hands and your generator is dry. Everything that is said on the generator’s operating manual should not be ignored. Never smoke cigarettes near the generator. Please keep flammable things away from the generator. Never overload your generator too. Your generator can catch fire. Never ever try to plug a generator cord into a wall outlet to avoid back feeding. Back feeding your generator is dangerous. Always turn on your generator first before plugging in appliances and shut off the appliances before turning your generator off. Use a heavy duty cord for your generator and the cord should not be worn out. All the instructions should be followed carefully. Never refuel your generator while it’s running. It can cause fire if fuel spills while your generator is hot. You should turn off your generator and let it cool off before refueling it. Having a fire extinguisher next to the generator is also important. This is only a reminder for everyone’s safety of using generators. Make sure your generator is properly grounded. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2LNhWZ3g6qBrKs and here is a video more about keeping others safe when using generators. Hope this helps. Thank you. Be safe

@@tr4u5mp90 Incorrect. It has a choke lever on the top of the carburetor. The electric start just works the choke with a solenoid. IMHO it doesn't give enough choke. Set the choke fully on to start on gasoline and 1/2 for propane. Once it is running, gradually open the choke manually until you reach a position where it runs smoothly with no hunting and then fully open the choke once it warms up, just like any other carbureted engine.

It pays to remember if you are hooking up a generator for whole house back up power, that non - inverter generators put out "dirty" electricity that can harm any computers or related equipment that is being powered by the generator. If you must do so, check the harmonic distortion and it must be lower than 5% that is what you get from the power company. One of the reasons I sprung for the large Honda EV6500 which puts out beautifully clean power sine wave power at less than 1% harmonic distortion (you get what you pay for....) Only bad thing is this is a TREMENDOUSLY expensive generator but still less than half of a large stationary Generac or Kohler stand by generator. Plus you get superb resale value from this generator. But a lot depends upon how often you are going to be called upon for backup power. In my case I run a business with loads of office equipment that I cannot afford to destroy....

I believe the danger to "delicate electronics is over-hyped. I see this warning all the time being posted...and it gets repeated undoubtedly....but as you dig deeper you see precious few devices damaged or "fried" ( none?) ever reported in print that it actually happened to someone. Besides.....it would be good to know what is actually a "delicate" electronic device....I've seen too many responders saying flat screen TV's, laptops, refrigerator, microwaves, and such run just fine with the normal THD generators. Perhaps "smart" controllers on heating/cooling systems are at-risk, but all-told it would be good know where the danger is.
@TOURMANBOB Жыл бұрын
@@TheWilferch Well the advice is everywhere and put out by the generator companies themselves which could be self serving but I doubt it. I also suspect that older electronics might be affected more than newer stuff; also, the damage might occur when non inverter generators are used for longer periods of time rather than the shorter periods typical of most power outages. However, the equipment is yours so you have to make the decision. Personally, I err on the side of caution since the extra cost of an inverter generator is not that much overall, and comes with the benefit of relatively quiet and more efficient operation.

We bought the same generator. My electrician is hopefully coming out this week to install the transfer mix and move some wiring around to better fuse positions. No I assume my power will never again go out but I have some serious peace of mind and a very cool 100lb propane tank on wheels for initial fuel supply until I get a permit for a line specifically for the generator. This generator won’t power our whole house using every option we have, bu it will power more than we will need and cost 20% of a “whole home” generator. We won’t know the difference from AC to our freezers to several fudges. Odd that the push button start didn’t work, mine worked well except when I forgot to open the fuel valve which you clearly didn’t. I hope that was resolved.

@davidpotter94622 жыл бұрын
Put a drop or two of motor oil on the gear where it sits on the shaft ; the bendix isn't moving enough ; it is dry of oil. Once it gets oiled up it should work every time. Make sure the starter hasn't worked loose and hanging down, causing the gears to misalign. It will probably eat up the gears if you don't oil it and get it freed up.

@@ManCrafting Here are the generator safety tips: This is just a safety reminder. It is important to always follow the generator safety rules whenever you use your portable generator. Make sure you’re aware of the hazards as well. All the generator safety tips need to be followed carefully. 1) Please do not allow an unqualified person or your children to operate the portable generator.
