Got it day one. Many action games use dpad up to use heals or items and jump buttons on X. Moving these to rear paddles feels incredible and not having to go to the config screen every time makes this a must for MMOS, fighting games, action games, and shooters. the ability to reduce the distance necessary for triggers to press down is great for fighting games and shooters specifically.

only” issue” i’ve had with it, is the battery life. but it was noted before it even released that it wasn’t going to be a long as the standard controller. and i mainly play at a desk with a monitor so when it does get low, i just plug it in. setting all the profiles was easy and switching between them for different games even easier. if you spend the day working with the stick deadzones and changing them to best work with your fps games of choice, it’s absolutely worth the $200 price tag imo

I bought one because my Dualsense was starting to drift so I needed to replace it anyway. I've been playing Dead Space with the Dualsense Edge and I really like the adjustable trigger stops in addition to the rear buttons. Also, I should mention that I frequently experience arthritic pain or something in my hands/fingers, so being able to customize and swap out all the controls provides me with actual physical comfort (e.g., repeatedly pressing in L3/R3 with my thumbs is painful). The battery life is a bummer but not a dealbreaker for me. For all these reasons, I think the Dualsense Edge was worth $200 to me. But I agree that I'd hesitate in recommending it to any/everybody. I think a person should buy it only if they have a clear reason/purpose. But for me an avid gamer I'm glad to have it.

@@ejziigydo they're like the only thing I even care about considering the normal version has motion controls. I would use the extra thumb sticks and swapped them out sometimes but I wouldn't pay for that feature and then nothing else seems really worth it Maybe the shorter battery life that's about the only cool thing here jk jk I just want regular controllers to have back buttons like the steam deck or the 8bitdo sn30pro 2. If backpedals were the norm then developers would take advantage of them more often when making video games which would be awesome. Having the capacitive thumbsticks on the steam deck is also awesome but that's a different thing.

Being able to change the stick curves and dead zones is honestly one of my favorite features even if i dont use it much. The reason I say that is because games on consoles dont have a set stick rate like pc games do. On pc you can look around and make it feel the same across all games, aside from the few that force accelleration. On console games can feel vastly different when aiming due to differing curves across games and with the curve options you can choose, you can help minimize the wonky feel of some games to improve your experience. Now if sony could add a sensitivity option somehow that would be fantastic for games like the Metro Redux collection where your sensitivity is so slow i wonder if my controller was dipped in syrup 😆
@Life-qo2uj
@Life-qo2uj Жыл бұрын
Yea itd be cool but im pretty sure it would only work on newer games built to read it, as none of the current or older games have been built to read higher sensitivity from the controller itself. They have just been built to respond differently to the same sensitivity that the controller has

Well worth every penny for me. As he said, it feels like a $200 controller! I think the battery life is griped harder than it should be. I don't get to sit for 6-10 straight as is and the high quality braided cable is VERY long. I've not delved into the stick curves and dead zone yet, but I will although that was not a buying point for me. The remapping and the changing of analog sticks is what sold me. Stick drift is inevitable. Could be a month-could be a year. I love the idea of greatly extending the life of my controller with a change that maybe takes 30 seconds. This was long overdue.

There are so many better ways to avoid stick drift. 1. Buy a steam controller. Trackpads don't get drift. 2. Don't abuse your controllers. all joystick get drift eventually but unless your buying joycons you can get 3 years out of a controller before it the sticks get loose. And you say you like being able to remape the controller? Bro you should have brought a PC. The games are dirt cheap and you can remap the controlls super easily. Making you buy a $200 controller before you can remap the buttons is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Hell even Nintendo lets you remap the controller like wtf I fell like you got scammed.
@Xcessive_Evil

@@bland9876I have no interest in steam controllers and I don't even find them aesthetically pleasing. I do not know what your definition of abuse is, but abusing anything I spend money on is what I don't do, nor do I spend it on joycons. Saying what you can get out of a controller isn't even factual. It's hit or miss and you even acknowledge that it's inevitable. taking 30 seconds to replace a stick and greatly extending the life of a purchase is a no brainer. So, what do I need a PC for when I'm talking about a PS product? Thanks for the "concern"? But, I think I got it covered.

I'm waiting a little bit before I buy it. But, the reason I'm waiting is because of the _one_ feature it's missing, which would make it a guaranteed purchase. The thumbstick tension is too soft. I'm waiting for Evil Controllers to offer higher tension thumbstick modules for this, like they did with the Astro C40 controller. More than any other feature, higher tension thumbsticks are the most important thing on a "pro" style controller. I know there's things like KontrolFreek precision rings, but I don't like them. They don't work as well as they claim. The added tension really only kicks in when there's only about 20% left on the stick's range of motion.

What I like the most is the back paddles because I primarily play GT7 and this is great for shifting. With the way I am going through remotes due to stick drift and stick replacements, it's well worth the investment. A replacement stick for one of these through Sony is only $19.99 and takes less than 10 seconds to replace it. I will need to invest more time into the stick sensitivity/ deadzone to see how this can be a useful tool in GT7. What I also enjoyed was hat it was instantly recognizable once you plugged it in and zero difficulty to pair it/set it up.

I have liked it so far, but haven’t used any new features or buttons yet. Feels slightly more ergonomic in hand (with tall included sticks, compared to even taller KontrolFreeks). The only negative thing is back buttons are kinda distracting when I’m not using them, but still fine. All buttons feels better atm than my v1 DualSenses. It looks good, even glossy black part looks better in the dark than old controller. I’m using it wired, haven’t tried without it. Set to use USB, not bluetooth. It’s fast of course. Still crazy expensive. Forgot to say Fn+ arrows (to control headphone volume) has been very useful.

title is a bit misleading, he didnt have much negative to say. my opinion after using it a bit is that it’s the best pro controller for the ps5. my main reason for buying was both my dualsense controllers had mad stick drift so i figured in the long run the dualsense edge will be cheaper than continually buying new controllers, all the other stuff the edge comes with are bonuses (some of them pretty huge). battery isnt a huge issue because the cord it comes with is very long & very durable, and you can always turn down the haptics and brightness and you’ll barely notice any sacrifice. idc if u buy or not, just don’t believe the haters

Agree with every point. It definitely feels great and like a premium device. My only big gripe is that I would have really enjoyed two more back buttons. I've been playing Horizon Forbidden West and have too many other buttons that I want to map to it (mainly the directional buttons). It would be so much easier to have the option to map the up, down, left, and right buttons to 4 back buttons, since those are the most difficult buttons to use when you're diving around and trying to handle a bunch of machines. You have to take your thumb off the left joystick to scroll through and use potions and heal yourself, which is just not an easy thing to do in the middle of a chaotic fight. Still though, I really like this controller.

I got mine two days ago and it is an amazing controller. The best part of it is how good it feels in your hands like a real premium quality pro controller. Also I've not messed with a the settings too deep but I did set the triggers to fast action for playing COD MW2 for better response time. This is absolutely a direct competitor to Xbox Elite controller which is also really good. The batter is kinda slow but that depends on how long you play on daily basis but the braided cable inside is actually long and makes things much easier for charging.

I’ve had an Astro c40 for warzone and bought this release day. The advantage with the edge is as you move the trigger adjusters it automatically calibrates so when you pull the trigger it’s max. The Astro was first pro controller I had and when adjusting the triggers movement I found when driving a car in warzone it wouldn’t go anywhere and had to map the trigger max input to account for shorter travel on a laptop. This has 4 profiles instead of two and to change between so easy. The only thing I would say is now they’ve got rid of slide cancel in mw2 and warzone 2 I use paddles for armour and reload.

Still waiting for them to come in stock in my city. Everywhere sold out immediately but hoping I can pick one up for my birthday which is in a few days. My original PS5 controller that came with the console got stick drift BAD after a year, came right out of nowhere. On my second controller, it's got very, very minor drift, it's barely a problem and comes and goes, been a year too, so I'm really hoping on getting one of these things for the sake of replaceable joy sticks. One year seems to be the magic number when it comes to drift with Dualsense 5 controllers, so I would rather only paying $50 tops every year on some new sticks than have to pay $100 on a brand new controller. Plus the bonus features are there which is neat and I can play around with.

I know I am among those gamers that you listed who would just reasign the back buttons and (maybe) assign different game genre profiles (dont have the time nor the patience for those kinds of setups). They could later on release a external battery pack to help extend the life of the edges battery but that might do more harm then good now that I think about it if it heats up the inside of the controller for extended periods of time. But maybe I'm over thinking things since other mobile devices (ie: phones, tablets, laptops, portable consoles, and etc) have long since been able to make use of portable batteries/bricks, so why shouldn't the edge be able to do so as well. 🤔

@@gabrielmiramontes5879 hey, so it’s kinda difficult for me to explain that L2 R2 thing. Let me start by saying yes I do have x and r3 as my paddles. R3 would be considered my slide and crouch but on my left paddle and jump on my right. It makes a huge difference, I only need to use my index finger just for square and triangle only. Only problem was that i tend to accidentally let go of the L2 button because I’m always crouching. However, that’s where the deadzones of the L2 and R2 come to play. On the back of the controller we have those adaptive trigger settings of course I have it on the middle for the L2 but I still had trouble with it.
