In the market for a new truck? The Honda Ridgeline might be just what you need. While not for everyone the new 2017-19 Honda Ridgeline has all of the comforts of a good car with a small pick up bed.
Thanks for watching and don't forget to share and subscribe.

People need to quit buying into the marketing that you need to have a mud bogging juggernaut to qualify as being a pickup truck. For everyday hauling and towing, comfort and handling, the Ridgeline is a great choice.

Absolutely right! Looked at the Tacoma and the Ridgeline before buying my Ridgeline. Since I'm on the freeway 95% of the time why would I want a lifted beast? Even in Colorado, I will never need anything more than a Ridgeline.

As my daily driver in Canada 6months of the year.... awd is far more an advantage than low range. When (6mnths a yr)I pull onto a busy, icy or snowy highway, the awd in the Honda is absolutely unbeatable compared to any 4x4.

I traded my BMW X3. It was impractical to do much. Bought the 2019 Ridgeline last year. I’ve hauled everything with the lawn. ( dirt, mulch, trees) I hauled all the 2x4s and fence slats for one side of my house. I remodeled a house and hauled 12’ beams (2x8, 2x10,2x12) and 4’x8’ sheets of subfloor, sink, toilet, 3-piece tub, and concrete foundation squares. I just recently drove to Austin and pulled a Honda engine . I had an engine hoist, air compressor , tools, the engine, and a cooler. The way there I averaged 28mpg and on the way back was 25.9 mpg. This was going 80mph to 90mph most of the way . I’ve pretty much used it for everything. I also admire all the clean lifted trucks in the Home Depot parking lot that don’t haul anything. But I admire the most, the beaten Ford F-150s that are dented up and actually hauling items. Some people complain about the short bed. I’ve had no complaints.

The Ridgeline is for people that have had "real trucks" before and or have the sense of practicality that aren't really into trucks. People that doesn't have the need to drive offroad and tow much or not at all, but perfect as a daily driver with the capability to haul bigger stuff when needed. On a daily basis, I see "real trucks" that are basically a pavement princess. Shoot, my friend owns a F150 limited that's freaking spotless, with a spray on bedliner that's being covered by a bed cover. Washes the darn thing in the middle of winter every 3 weeks lol.

Spot on explanation. I'm 43, have a full size truck and I no longer need its capability. I can't remember the last time I had the thing in 4 Low tugging or pulling on something. Anything that that truck is capable of I'm no longer interested in doing. The Ridgeline makes total sense for me because I get the comfort, convenience, fuel economy and I can still throw some dirty crap in the back.

I was between choosing the new Ridgeline or a 2016 F150 platinum with a budget of $30k. I chose the F150 for overall value and my wife prefers the luxuries Ford has to offer. But I think the Ridgeline is a great choice for the mid size truck buyer. I live in New England and took my truck a couple times off road it was FUN! Had it in 4L too to get over a few obstacles. Funny thing is the truck so glossy nobody would suspect I take this rig offroad.

@@foford2010 it really boils down to need vs want. I'd be disappointed buying a truck that can't perform the way I need to but it's the same way with a more capable one that I'll never use what it is intended for. With that said, I know we always want to overindulge when it comes to vehicles.

Picked up a 2020 Ridgeline several months ago. Checked the TACO first and kept hitting my head getting in and out of the vehicle, front and back (non-starter). Didn't want to go full size to a Tundra. Yes, when you get older simple things matter. Simple things, like getting in and out of the vehicle, leg and hip room; front and back, comfort, storage options and ergonomics. Ya, we won't be offroading anytime soon here in the city. The Ridgeline is everything we hoped for and more. Thanks for taking the time to post your experience with it. Could care a less what others want to call it; a car, el camino, truck, whatever it's called (who cares). It's a Ridgeline, it's not for everyone. You'll know when your ready for one :)

I have a 2020 Ridgeline. 'By far' the easiest truck to get in and out of. 'By far' the most comfortable (very quiet cabin, very smooth ride). The 'trunk' and that 'dual opening tailgate' are exceptional features only Honda has. The four wheel independent suspension give the truck exceptional handling. Would we buy it again? Yes, in heartbeat.

Love my first Gen Ridgeline. I can fit two dirt bikes in the back, tow a small camper, has plenty of power way better road manners than the competition. It has way more interior space which is nice when you have kids. Is it a off-road machine like an TRD Tacoma... no but unless your crawling over rocks or stumps it does really well I have yet to get it stuck I will pry upgrade to the newer body style Ridgeline for my next truck. I also looked into Tacoma’s as that’s what I originally wanted but the Tacoma’s of the same vintage have the notorious frame rot issues and where almost as expensive as the used tundras. I think it is mostly an EGO thing for me so I would still probably buy a Tacoma. The landscaping company that I use has a 1.5 cubic yard bucket loader. They position it diagonally across the bed and all of the mulch and or compost fits without any overspill. I do use the D4 button on the six-speed transmission under heavy payloads using my 2019 Ridgeline RTL-T. The Tacoma short-bed is 60.5” and Ridgeline is 63.6”, so the Ridgeline has the largest in-class short-bed, to include 50” width as compared to Tacoma width 41.5”. The Gladiator, Ranger, Colorado/Canyon, and Frontier all have dimensionally smaller pickup-beds (unless you pay for the long-bed). Also, Ridgeline has better reach over, while the gate is upright. I paid the $360 for the locking tailgate and $1,200 for the Tonneau Cover.

I now own a 19 ridgeline and love it, the interior is way bigger, especially the backseat row. The truck bed still allows me to move our kayaks/fishing gear, and the gas mileage is great! The ride is smooth and the tech is great, and personally, I think Honda's reliability speaks for itself. Overall, if you don't haul stuff or go off-roading, and do a lot of city driving, this is a great choice.

Maybe it’s just the newer ridge lines, but the 2021 is 64 inches long which is four inches longer than the Tacoma. Ridgeline also has three fuel economy options. Economy for the best gas rating, normal, and sport. If you need to enter traffic with some weight in the back, you can get the boost that you need. Tacoma needs time to get up to speed. Tacoma is really better for camping and off road. If that is not your main goal, there are better trucks. Tacoma is now 100% in Mexico. Mechanics are reporting a concern with reliability potentially going down in the Tacoma. Ridgeline 75% built in America and Canada. Not sure why dealers include Canada in the equation.

AWD system is excellent if not the best. The cabin is very good looking, pleasing to the touch and comfortable, easy to drive and I can do full U turns instead of a 3point turn on full size truck. Ohh, the in bed Trunk is Awesome and very usable, Thnks Honda for that. cons: very few. ground clearance is low in stock but can be rise, look is somewhat soft but still good. cup holders do not hold 32oz getorate bottles but they are the usual cup holders. If I worked on a construction site, I would have got something else. If I did alot of off roading and mudding, I would have got something else. But for the stuff I need to carry / move around, and the places I go, it's great. And it rides great. The extra cargo space you get with the bed is way more useful to me than being able to seat 7 people in an SUV. All I know is I can't go back to driving a sedan. Feels like you're lying down. Feels too close to the road. There's no place I need to get to so quickly, that I would need to drive one of those modern nimble sedans that can easily jump between lanes, in and out of traffic at a touch of the pedal. Or hit 140 on the highway without realizing it .

Dirt Bike TV - how does the Ridgeline tow - I see you have a small cargo trailer (I have an aluminum cargo trailer around 1500 lbs and have loads around 1500 as well). I do some long distance towing - again 1500 miles and the 5000 lb capacity bothers me. I also see the Ridgeline has only a donut spare (is there enough room in the spare tire bay for a full size tire?)

I thought I wanted a Tacoma. I walked in to my local Toyota dealer practically ready to buy one if we could work out a deal. Looked at a few new ones then saw a used 2017 TRD Sport with less than 3000 miles on it. I really thought that was the one. We test drove it. I liked it but I found out quickly that you need to get that motor screaming to hit the power band. I’d prefer lower end torque but was willing to overlook it. We sat down with the salesman and he came back with a quote of $40 k and wasn’t willing to negotiate very much. That was for a 2+ year old USED vehicle. Needless to say, I walked away. That’s when I started do some serious research. Test drove a Colorado and Nissan Frontier both of which I really liked. I didn’t particularly care for the look of the Ridgeline but eventually checked it out. Road handling by far outclassed everything else to that point. Interior comfort and storage capacity by far outclassed everything else to that point. Best in class fuel economy and it will smoke every other midsized pickup in a road race. Road noise barely noticeable. I was sold. The hidden bed trunk was s huge selling point. No apple car play or rear passenger USB ports were another downside for the Taco. I don’t plan on doing any serious rock climbing so that’s not a factor. This will be a daily driver for the next ten years so comfort trumps styling as well. 5000 lb towing capacity is plenty and it matches the competition in payload capacity. If your all into appearances get the Taco. I have my toy Grand National if I want to look cool on a nice day. Loving the Tidgeline so far.

I love Toyota and just bought a new white Highlander Platinum for my wife. Now shopping for a pickup truck for myself, of course Tacoma is on my top of my list at first. But after I did a research, I found Ridgeline has met more of my needed. While Tacoma Limited and Ridgeline RTL-E both having V6 3.5L, 6spd, 4dr, and over 40K price tag, but these are things that made me choose Ridgeline at this time: 1. Tacoma lack of Android Auto. 2. Tacoma still with rear drum brakes. 3. Tacoma dashboard style (I wish it's more like my 2017 Highlander). 4. Ridgeline has better MPG. 5. Ridgeline tailgate and trunk unit design. 6. Ridgeline has blue ambiance light interior (like Highlander) 7. Ridgeline has standard remote starter. I know Tacoma has other features that Ridgeline doesn't have like towing and off road capablility, but those are not important to me. All I need is a trunk bed that can carry 8x4, bikes, stuffs from HD, TV or appliances. On other days, I just need it to be a car or SUV like for daily commute so MPG is crutial for me too. I haven't bought the Ridgeline yet. I'm still waitting and hoping for the 2020 Tacoma with new redesign features. Otherwise, I will drive home the white Ridgeline RTL-E some day.

Tacoma is a great truck but when your done offroading or done pretending you offroad, the Ridgeline makes way more sence. I'll be coming from a full size truck and I was not feeling any love for the Tacoma. I didn't hate it but I was expecting more. Looks rugged and definitely not junk but not roomy, not comfortable and not as much payload as the Ridgeline. I need to occasionally carry a fully dressed utility atv and with other gear. The Tacoma crew cab can barely do that with a 900 lb. payload. When not hauling the atv, I want a roomy & comfortable interior with more amenities than Tacoma offers. I want a smooth ride with good fuel economy and an auto 4x4 or AWD system. Ridgeline.

I have my second Ridgeline. Had a 2018 RTL-T and now have a 2020 RTL. I also have a 2018 Toyota Highlander. The Highlander has a bad throttle lag and all of the entertainment functions and lane assist crap is way worse on the Toyota. Both Ridgelines were way better. I put 58,000 miles on my 2018 Ridgeline in the first year because I commute in Los Angeles for work and it was flawless. Dirt roads are nothing, rainy dirt roads are easy in light mud, and great in snow. Plowed through a snowstorm in Big Bear no problem, added chains, and felt very safe. Offroad, I'd consider a modified Tacoma over a Ridgeline but that's what my Jeep CJ5 is for. I filled the bed with gear and added a hitch rack filled with gear and 4 people over a mountain highway to the beach and it is great. Added a K&N air filter for a few miles per gallon improvement, 5% tint all around, and considering an exhaust. No other mods. The ONLY thing I do not like is the Honda sales people I have dealt with at 4 dealerships in 2 counties in Southern California. All similar, all unreliable if you want one and don't buy it that day. I wanted a specific truck and 2 dealers knew I would buy but didn't inform me when the trucks arrived. This is the ONLY reason I wouldn't buy another one.
