DON'T buy another hedge trimmer without watching. Do you prefer gas or electric?

I have been considering getting an electric hedge trimmer for myself ever since I tried out Fall Rivers set last year. I think they are great for touch-ups. One plus is that I never have mixed fuel in my truck so it's a huge plus with electric trimmers because I don't have to have fuel readily available in my truck. I think that electric equipment definitely has a time and place in any professional landscape or lawn care company. Especially with the way this technology is developing. I would like to know your opinion, are they a waste of money or do you see the practical use for them in your company?

Lol last winter the idea to tie something around tall grasses before trimming them randomly popped into my head and I'll never go back. It makes cleanup a breeze and the grass easy to handle. Just use a normal rope, tie a regular overhand knot around the grass, and have someone else pull one end while you pull the other. With 2 people tightening it you can really cinch down on the grass which makes cutting it easier. Also the dead grass works great for anything you'd use hay/straw for like drying up mud or covering grass seed.

I was out doing ornamental grasses yesterday and forgot my bungee cords to bunch them up for the cut... ugh lots of clean up for me..lol but for these large cuts I do prefer my echo gas powered for the power.

3:43 is why I don't usually use that unit. The double safety switch + ramp up means every single time you shift your grip (which at least I do a lot depending on the shrub shape) the unit cuts off and you are having to wait 2.5 seconds for full speed, or you don't wait and get sub-par cut). That being said, the power and run time are amazing, and if there is some long, straight thing that doesn't need a lot of grip changing I use this puppy for sure. Great video, Blake!

Electric hundred percent better than gas unless all you're doing is hedge trimming 24/7 just the time I save not starting a 2-stroke equipment pays for itself over and over

i agree. The only way to justify a gas hedge trimmer is if I am running a commercial lawn care business and doing this 5 days a week. Everything and anything with hedges/bushes/etc at home I've been able to get done with electric/battery powered hedge trimmers just fine.

Never heard back. So I pretty much just give up with trying. Also the gas fumes get to me sometimes if I'm at it for a while. Yea definitely zip tie the front or little tape

Cut closer to the tape and put the tape as tight as possible. This prevents grass movement allowing the hedger to cut the grass instead of the grass moving with the cutting blades.

Main drawback is the need for spare batteries and possibly the means to have them charged. They may also not be practical for people who live off-grid. Solar powered solutions may offer some relief for battery powered equipment.

So one seems more convenient than the other to me. Especially since you can just leave it in the back of the truck for the next time and not have to go charge it
