Hi, the question about aftermarket exhaust, can any confirm an akra exhaust internally the same fir all models. Like r1 akra ,vs rsv4 akra exhaust. 1st they look the same,I think you can get akra pipe for cbr1000rr,or any other liter bike and install on rsv4. Who knows if the internal pipe construction not the same.

Mingas Con talk to an Aprilia service manager before you make a comment like that, while the manual does say every 6k the dealer recommends every 3-3,500 miles to be on the safe side. I have 24k on mine and changed it every 3k as recommended by my dealer, I ride it hard and never had a problem. Cycle Cruiser was exactly right with his comments about service intervals because he does thorough research!
@CycleCruza

Aprilia mechanic said 3-3,500 miles, also, Aprilia forum members said service it earlier. I trust people who actually own this bike and share their experience. It's not a secret that Aprilia requires tighter service intervals.

Friend of mine had one (2017 Factory) for almost 2 years and made around 50K km on it. Commuting, Track days weekend rides and what not. Zero issues. All he did on it was just scheduled maintenance. Tuono will probably be my next bike in about a year or two. currently riding an Aprilia Shiver for the last year and half. I rode 15K km on it with zero issues. just maintenance, which by the way cost the same as other bike, Japanese included.

Good to hear! I don't know if I would take this bike to the track often, low side it and it will be a fortune to fix, especially with these new price hikes on euro parts in the Trump trade wars going on. Insurance may not cover a bike that goes down on the track as well. The Tuono v4 1100 is a really rare unique bike, there is no other supernaked like it out there. The motogp bike sound is awesome, even with the stock exhaust.
@Shahar_C
@Shahar_C 5 жыл бұрын
@@CycleCruza Yup, I completely agree. And parts are quite expensive so try not to crash. Big service (the one with the valve clearance inspection) is also quite expensive as well because it's quite difficult to do it on the V4 engine. BUT, at the end of the day, I think it's worth it. This is the best Super-Naked bike in the world. It is a premium bike and unique experience, so it comes with a little bit more expanses.

Still more than my cbr1000rr service which is 8k miles. The Aprilia mechanic said 3,500 miles.. The main point was this bike cost more to maintain than your typical Japanese bike, which most people already know.
@PKN44
@PKN44 5 жыл бұрын
I beg to differ. In 2014 I bought Triumph Daytona 675R over ZX-6R because of only 2 reasons. 1) Sound of that triple and 2) service interval for Daytona is 6000 miles vs Zx-6R 3800 miles. On more latest japanese bikes 2017-Current Yamaha R1 service interval is also 6000 miles. There is a preconceived notion about European bikes being expensive to maintain but I dont think that's the case. BMW s1000rr is also an European bike and that also has same service intervals as your cbr1000rr.
@CycleCruza
@CycleCruza 5 жыл бұрын
@@PKN44 Euro bikes are more experience to maintain here in the USA, not just because of service intervals but euro parts are more expensive and not always readily available like Japanese parts. Supply Vs Demand. Also, dealers usually charge more per hour for euro bikes, at least Ducati and Aprilia dealers do from my experience.
@PKN44
@PKN44 5 жыл бұрын
@@CycleCruza I agree on the part supply for Italian bikes. I am in Cali and still getting parts here takes couple of weeks for aprilia. Other European bikes are fine. I had to get starter motor changed on my Daytona and it was available within 3 days. We have a BMW parts warehouse in NorCal so technically I can get those parts same day in Cali and 2-4 days anywhere else in US. No experience with Ducati yet but couldn't buy V4S because of it cooking my thighs.

Get race ecu mapping at af1, and competition werkes slip on and integrated tail light. The factory is very worth it even just for the weight savings, but the ohlins is also very good - get the sag, compression and rebound set on the ohlins asap. Keep an eye on the lock nuts on the cush carrier, they have been known to loosen. In fact, if you have the wheel off because you decide to do a 520 conversion or even just need to replace the tire, take the lock nuts off and locktite them. Mine backed out all the way between chain services and I almost lost the cush drive and had a catastrophic crash. Luckily, I was on the way to my mech. Another upgrade worth saving for is a samco hose kit. It's something you can do yourself in an afternoon (if you're handy), next time you do a coolant flush, that will save you from a massive puddle under your bike after a hard ride. Adds a custom look too because samco has a wide selection of colours (STG had a great price on the hose kit and clamps).

Yo bro, I got a RSV4 RF new. In our short 1,158 miles together she showed a code(for immobilizer) after I called Fox Powersports they said "calm down bro, check your battery." Oops, sent too soon, must edit. In the end, battery was good... just a loose connection. I tightened the connections, poof... problem gone. While at my dealership they checked her out and changed her oil for tracktime in 4 days while giving me permission to enjoy myself at GingerMan raceway. Aprilia will be there with new weapons for me to test! Be great to see you there bro. I got a Tuono also... my 04 will amaze you, she's my purpose built track bike. To me, when I invest in something it is the smiles that matter. No smiles... time to sell. I might keep this machine 4ever... she makes me smile. And confidence inspiring framework like no other bike for me. My girls are keepers. You gotta be dedicated to the machine before she will be dedicated to you.

3500 mile oil change maintenance is normal for me since both my DRZ400SM and SV650 have 3500 oil changes per what their manual says, and I use Motul semi-synthetics on them. 3500 miles felt pretty long riding my SV650 daily to work for 90 miles each day and 5 days a week, and just to let you know, but the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900 oil change interval is 6000 miles.

DUDE......!!! Use engine braking when you stop for traffic lights, learn to use the gears and engine when stopping, that's what bikes are designed to do, helps you brake better, stop in less distance and be more stable when stopping...!! You use less fuel by using engine braking because the engine is not using any fuel at this point (it uses more fuel coasting due to the engine idling) it's the cylinder compression that helps slow you down NOT fuel...!!! You are teaching new riders bad habits that could get them killed, bikes are designed to stop in the shortest distance when using brakes combined with engine braking.....! By just using the brakes when you're riding will imprint this action into you reflex actions and especially in an emergency situation where your reflexes and instincts come into play and the first thing you will do is grab a handful of front brake and a handful of clutch....and.... either end up in the guard rail, embedded into the back of a car (OR under it) or in the middle of an intersection at a red light.....!!! Doing things correctly (that are the most efficient and effective) will imprint these actions into your subconscious, resulting in the best reflex actions, this is a key aspect to riding safely, confidently and survival...!! You don't want your gravestone to read - HERE LIES CRUZA, MISSED THE CORNER BUT SAVED 1/8th OF A GALLON OF FUEL THIS YEAR...

I'd like to take it for 4200 km in total trip but fuck me, if it starts having problems like this Tuono had while I'm in the mountains in a country that has no guzzi/aprilia service, i'm fucked.

@@Gurubashy I had a Moto Guzzi V7 II. Avoid it would be my advice. It was in the shop for a full year and they wound up replacing the engine. As it turned out the problem was only a clogged injector when I had it taken to another dealer. The distributor does a poor job and there's really no dealer network. Cost of parts and service will kill you. CC better dump this thing before the warranty is up.

That is not true and a lie that is being told on the internet. Go tell Aprilia USA headquarters that. I called them and they said any deviation from stock will void the warranty. They said that all aftermarket exhausts make the bike non-street legal (fact) and they do not warranty race bikes (that is their loophole to keep from paying for warranty work!). Trust me, Aprilia will not pay shit, they don't like to pay for anything. I had to wait three days just get approval for the problem I had on my stock bike and the dealer said they ended up eating the cost (less than $100) which made no sense to me. I don't have any confidence in Aprilia's warranty.

Well I’m sure you did your research and have an idea of what you’re talking about but I don’t see how they would be able to weasel out of something when it says Aprilia Racing on the side of the exhaust. Check out the Aprilia forum, talk to Ed from AF1 who runs the forum.

@@CycleCruza if its the akra with cat and flapper it does not void warrenty since it is street legal and developed in partner with aprilia. and most states dont allow one mod to void the whole warrenty only affected systems if it can be proven the mod caused damage, thats like saying running a different brand oil will void warrenty, its not true if it is comparable product. dont say "there is no street legal exhaust (fact)" when akra makes a euro 4 legal slip on which is also dot legal for the street. change the exhaust and keep the servo functioning as it is supposed to, it does not void warrenty. its the exact same thing with honda, dealers more often than not get stuck with paying for warrenty work or oem pays half.

By law to deny warranty, they have to prove your modifications caused the issue. For instance your aftermarket exhaust burns the tail. That's not covered. Your engine throws a rod and u had the proper tuning for the exhaust. That's covered. It's called something like the Magg-moss warranty act

My dealer told me 95% of the Aprilia errands they had was about people installing after market exhausts and not running race ecu / map or a exhaust valve delete plug, and that would ofcuz throw error on the display. Do it right and you won’t get issues. Also do the cat removal with race map/ tune will sort out low rpm on/off feel. It’s much better for me now. I did run KTM super duke before and it’s the same, mid pipe and ecu akra map or power commander is needed to solve low rpm fukkups. Last thing, all modern bikes need expensive de cat mod if you go all in, but you need power commander and dyno run if you don’t get akrapovic ecu tune, just how it is. Play the game or run 2012-ish bikes...

Compared to the 1960’s- 1990’s, reliability of vehicles have gone through the roof with longer service intervals and less problems. All the European products are going for longer servicing intervals. Most German cars are one year or 12,000 miles before any serving or oil changes. My BMW car traveled 18,000 miles before it needed an oil change. Ducati has drastically lengthened any servicing past few years. Probably why people able to keep things longer before major repairs. Preventative maintenance is what keeps costs down and not strand you on the side of the road. MB has lifetime roadside assist. Maybe bikes soon will offer that.
