Don't buy DJI Drones

The Active Track of new DJI drones can't track other than people or cars. So not even velomobiles. I tested it with DJI Mini 3 Pro. Luckily I still have my old Mavic Air so I can keep tracking my velomobile.

The mini three pro was only able to track cars, boats, and people. Almost 6 months ago they added the ability to track anything. I have a mini 3 pro and have tested my self

I have no problems tracking people on bikes, cars,boats ,paddle boards and animals. I was using active track to follow a few bald eagles a few days ago with my mini 3 pro

Why don't they supply some sort of tracking stickers like in mocap? Surely that thing could follow it then if it had those slapped on in few places. Bit of a missed opportunity for DJI.

I actually really like my mini 3 pro, but even my Air2s can do everything the same, if not better, and no stupid restrictions on it like the newer drones like the M3P where it is an option.. yet? So ill probably sell it unfortunately bc the nfz areas around me are ridiculous are all rich peoples heliports and then a small airport for small planes and a musuem, but its unused 95% of the time and im more than like 20miles from it. So im really not worried bc i only use dji to film, otherwise i have my diy CF FPV drones with air unit and the rest with analog using betaflight and im just getting used to Manual/Acro mode even more in the mean time before i try it on one of those bc of how twitchy and fast a 5" fpv drone can be and i have an avata that i got for learning manual and to have fun with a smaller drone i can just zip thru opening and stuff plus built in prop gaurds so the drone can recover from a slight bump into something which i rly like when exploring old building and such with small openings and maybe some wind lol.. But yeah most people would be plentyy happy with a Mavic Air 1 or even the Air 2 you can find for a good price used as well, but seems like only minor improvements im not sure.. Or even a Mini 2 if all you want to do is the occasional drone shot and still have that clear video on your phone on the controller and still get great video footage, esp if you dont care about 4k which is kind of oversold still... Most dont have 4K computer monitors and a 4K TV has no where near the pixel density of a pc monitor screen unless its super high end..

I'm not so sure Drone Man. There are a lot more things I can think of I'd would want to track than cars or humans. One thing that'd generate awesome footage for instance, would be a dog or cat. Or an estafette stick. Or... well, anything that moves basically. Also, from a software point of view, the completely unique shape of a velomobile should be relatively easy to follow. And then there's Saukki's altitude remark that is quite important.

Dji mini 3 pro tracks motor boats great! But really it cannot track people on bikes Sad that It cannot track even a bright orange velomobile. Tried my one when riding motorcycle on dirt road. Not good. Fatbike on a dirt track even more bad. But with my boat it works well so.. some good, mostly bad.

Thats a good idea! Ill have to try that out and see how my Mini 3 Pro does vs my Air2S as well.. I wonder if it could track a jet ski going at a reasonable speed. How big of a boat were you having the Drone track and follow? Is there a way to make the drone stay in place but follow a subject with its camera alone from where it is? Like just put it up in the air 50ft, walk around a track say, and have the drone stay in the center and just rotate and pivot the camera to stay on the locked on object.. Seems like it could be useful for certain things especially since neither of these drones have side sensors or particularly good rear sensors either.. So the drone seems pre-programmed to let the object pass by for the side shot and then get behind it and follow it going forward, it will always go back to that spot even if you manually put it back and start over..

Well sure. You don´t have to buy and work with NEW Equiptment. There is one small detail though. Here in EUROPE you aren´t able to work with older drones, which are NOT certified. SO WE HAVE TO BUY a new drone. Which pisses me off tbh. So all that talk "Don´t buy new equipment" goes down the drain
