The Multiverse Spider-Man

Жыл бұрын

In the seven years I've been cosplaying Spider-Man I've ordered 3 RPC Studio suits and 1 mask, and every single time something went wrong; here's a collection of those stories. Let this video serve as a warning and a critique of a company that seems to have possibly and undeserved level of praise; and a reputation for being high quality. Their suits might be nice, but is it worth the hassle? Can these pitfalls be avoided? Should YOU risk it for the suit you want?

We don’t need you to apologize. We need you to be able to respect all customers the same regardless, if they were huge cosplayer or not because you want more people to come to your website, correct? Then you’ve got a treat everyone equal. Regardless of following because some of us are huge fans of these people and we see the suits they get we want them as well, so for you not to follow through and not listen when we ask for something makes us feel like the whole website is a scam.

Yeah they're just not worth it for how inconsistent they are (again imo). And I have yet to hear from a single Spider Person who's ordered one of their paint suits defend the quality of them. Everyone I've talked to has said the same thing they've fallen apart or aren't durable. And so it's like who are those suits for? The people who'd really benefit character performers and ya' know people paid to do appearances can't buy em because they don't last. And it's hard to recommend them to someone who's only gonna wear them like once a year because they're so expensive. I don't know.

That's great. Like I said these have just been my experiences with them over the years. Some people have 0 problems with them others like myself seem to have several. I think it boils down to how often are you ordering from them and what you're ordering, but who knows, I just think it's worth hearing as many stories as possible before dropping the kind of money they ask for.

I just feel like the texture on the RPC suits are different than on the printcostume ones- I've been looking to get a spidey suit for a while but on the non-rpc ones im always scared of the mask whitening out (even on the thicker lycra option) or stuff like that, I feel like I would not have These issues with a rpc suit- but they are so very expensive...
@TheMultiverseSpider-Man
@TheMultiverseSpider-Man Жыл бұрын
You'd be wrong, the "whitening out" is going to happen regardless no matter what site you go through so long as the suit is sub-dyed, it's just the nature of spandex. They 100% have a different feel, but I own both and I'm telling you visibly there's like no difference in quality. The RPC has better print quality arguably, but even then I'd say that's really only when it comes to... like dark suits and needing very, fine details to show through. And even saying that, I don't think their quality is much better to be honest. I've gotten black suits from both and like yeah the RPC suits are maybe a TAD darker, but they all bleed color the same. I think where you'll notice a difference is in longevity. The RPC suits will last longer, they don't fade as fast from constant use I feel like, but I wouldn't say like they're particularly more sturdy, they just hold their color a little better, and this is only noticeable in like the fingers. Also depending on how often you wear the suit this'll be a nonissue. If you're just wearing it a couple times a year, then it's pointless. But yeah. I wouldn't say their fabric is any thicker, and definitely doesn't whiten any less when stretching, but will they last longer yeah, but again if you're not constantly wearing your suits then it doesn't even matter. But hey if you're only gonna get like one or two suits maybe they're worth the risk for you. I can only speak on my experience. And this was that. Hope this helps.

@@lofote0384 Yeah you really can only do it for specific suits, and even then like you have to decide if the thinner, lesser quality fabric is worth it. Yeah. I mean- the quality is good, but it's not THAT good in my honest opinion. I think unless you want like a really fancy suit it's just not worth it. Learn to attach soles yourself, or deal with not as good of kungfu shoes other makers use. Like- it's just really hard to justify their prices.

I know this is a little old, but it seems like a lot of your issues early on in the video are issues from the pattern designer, not from RPC.
@TheMultiverseSpider-Man
@TheMultiverseSpider-Man Жыл бұрын
Hmm, I don't know about that. See for the first 3 suits it was all run through them, and as I pointed out I've worked with that pattern maker on my own outside The RPC and they got my pattern back to me in like maybe a week? So I'm hesitant to put the blame on GunHead. And in the case of the first suit he got the pattern done pretty quick, but they're the ones who failed to tell him there shouldn't have been muscle shading, at least I'd imagine it was on them since like I said I've worked with him since 1 on 1 and he had 0 issues implementing what I wanted into a pattern. So yeah I personally can't throw that on Gunhead, maybe with the Spider-Punk pattern, but I just find it hard to believe he'd take so long to do a quick pattern modification. So I guess it's perspective. When it comes to the mask I mean that's all on them. And when it comes to the sewing issues that's all on them. Like for the Spider-Punk suit I took that same pattern to PrintCostume, no issues sewing it right so if we're talking their... um- inconsistency in sewing that's 100% them not the pattern makers, especially since they had a partnership with one of them and none of them called for being sewn in a way that was outside the norm. But when it comes to the issue of them getting patterns wrong, eh yeah you could put the blame on Gunhead in probably one of those 3 scenarios, I'd say I wouldn't for the first two since the patterns were coming back in a timely manner just wrong so to me that means there's a breakdown in communication on their end. So I don't I guess that's my respectful long winded rebuttal.

@@TheMultiverseSpider-Man RPC doesn’t design or edit patterns, all they do is resize them for printing. The wait was because of the time it took for them to communicate with Gunhead.
@TheMultiverseSpider-Man
@TheMultiverseSpider-Man Жыл бұрын
@@jakevaughan8701 Right which is what I said, somewhere between them and gunhead communication broke down. But that's why I was saying yeah in regards to wait time absolutely that could be true, but as far as the pattern being wrong that's on The RPC for not relaying the information properly. But I've given the company the benefit of the doubt several times and it's kind of always something which is why I also find it hard to believe that it was gunhead holding them up, but yeah again you could totally be right in that instance. But even then that was such a minor complaint and doesn't really negate all those other issues. Like if they had sent over what I sent to them to gunhead the patterns wouldn't have been wrong in my opinion based on my experiences working with GH. But yeah live and learn. I see you've had your own issues with them via your Twitter. So like clearly my problems are not unheard of ha, ha, ha.
@matsujpg7481
@matsujpg7481 Жыл бұрын
Yup, RPC doesn't edit the patterns for you. It's up to you or the designer (in this case, gunhead) to edit for the pattern file for saturation, muscle shading, etc.. It's a shame, though, with how much you spend it doesn't include that kind of service.
@TheMultiverseSpider-Man
@TheMultiverseSpider-Man Жыл бұрын
@@matsujpg7481 Right, I'm very aware. But again like I was saying you really can only put the blame on gunhead in a single scenario here, which like I was saying I hesitate to do since when I have worked with them before they've been impeccable. But again yes. But also that doesn't explain the two other times where the pattern wasn't right and given my experience that mishap was due to The RPC's poor communication with Gunhead, not Gunhead getting my request and being like, "fuck that." Because I've worked with him and like I was saying he took the time knew what I wanted got it to me like two weeks later, granted it was a tweak to a pattern he had already made. But that's kind of why in the Spider-Punk situation I find it hard to rest blame on him since it was the same scenario and I got the pattern back like I said 2 weeks max? Like for all I know I emailed The RPC once right they sent out the request but then chose to do nothing because it meant MAYBE I don't know. MAYBE they'd have to pay gunhead to design a new pattern and they didn't want to? I have no idea, but I guess that's sort of the crux of the situation. But yes. I am very aware they don't design any of the patterns themselves, but okay even still of the 3x then that I had an issue with the pattern they could only be blamed 2x instead of 3x. As only 2 of those times could it be argued that their communication was the problem. Which that's still like- a majority of the time. But again you are correct.

Haven't felt comfortable doing that just yet. But I'm learning to sew, so it's only a matter of time. That being said it still wouldn't eliminate the issue. @ComiccollectorGamer actually... I've found his reviews and unboxings dull personally. They're very copy paste so after a few for me personally they're no longer interesting and because they're all sponsored he literally has 0 negatives to ever say it's just like 3min of him praising the suit with however many minutes of suiting up and then a couple minutes of showcasing all of which shot in the EXACT same way every time almost always in the EXACT same location. He always gets his patterns from the same pattern makers so there's not even any variety there and he literally only gets suits that have already been designed so there's also 0 originality either. And like if you watch his content now it's literally just shorts and they're super bland and uninspired. Like- his whole brand is- played out? Like he doesn't put out new work out routines so where's the "fit" part if his brand? He doesn't do suit reviews anymore. And like- it's fine he has a proper career cosplay is just fun for him I'm assuming, but yeah he's definitely fallen off as a content creator and I'll be real I don't miss it. And I don't think the content was ever all that interesting it appealed to the most generic casual fan of the character. There's so many more Spidey creators and proper cosplayers that imo deserve that level of praise and attention. So yeah I 100% feel you on this.
