Yeah, Battlezone really gave you that floating on ice hover feel that you expect, but that was also because the terrains were filled up with boulders. :)

Battlezone looks like a neat game but i dont know if you could implement such a smooth hovercraft behavior in the bumpy terrain of star citzen ... still i wish they would overwork the hoeverbikes a bit more so they dont bottom out after just 3 jumps ^^

The analogies with battle zone and Manor Lords about simulation and fun are well put. Star Citizen boulders and vehicle driving is a great example.

The second album is a rare thing to nail for sure. I never played Battlezone, but its local terrain map is something CIG could still utilize!

You should try Ostriv. It is amazing and more mature that Manor Lords. No combat there tho

Oh wow Battlezone - there's a blast from the past. I bought it because I loved the arcade game and it didn't disappoint, Didn't know it was repackaged on Steam though - I might have to introduce my nephew to it :)

I never played Battlezone I think? But I have already put 20 hrs into Manor Lords. Nice slow paced relaxing game. The combat portion is kind of fun too IMO.

Battlezone looks fun, though I do have a hard time getting into old, low poly titles. Personal preference.

I never played the original Battlezone myself, but sometimes a sequel is ok, other times it isn't. If one can keep what made the original item of a title in mind when making the sequel, it can be good, but other times the 3rd installment is needed to bring it back because they missed the mark with XYZ Title 2.

I saw Battlezone back in the day, but for me the lore that the MechWarrior games were built on hooked me into MechWarrior and BattleTech as much as the big, stompy mech combat of the video game adaptations themselves. That and X-Wing: Alliance were my go to for sci-fi sim games.

I did love the stompy fun of the mechwarrior games, but the way BZ combined having to plan while in the middle of mayhem was the best.

I freakin loved Battlezone. I especially liked how in multiplayer players would complain that you wouldn't quit when your recycler was destroyed. Hey, I still have lives left and they can be sniped. I blew up plenty of other bases with their own ships!

Man, now Battlezone is going way back. I was expecting you to say Redline, which came out around that time as well and attempted to combine FPS and driving mechanics like Twisted Metal, but despite me loving the concept, it was no where near as fun as Twisted Metal or Quake II, the two games it tried to combine together.

Unfortunately, Kerbal Space Program 2 also hit the sophomore slump. Though made by a new developer with 10 years of computer advancements, the original KSP is still better than the early-access KSP2. Never heard of Battlezone before this video.
